They're concerned for Amber!
An unexpected pregnancy at the age of 16 is one of the most stressful things a child can go through. Then again, just because 16 isn’t the best age to have a baby doesn’t mean unexpected pregnancies at other ages are a walk in the park! Even though Amber Portwood is now 27, the fact that she’s expecting her second unplanned child was enough to shake things up with her family, friends, and exes.
Just like her pregnancy in her teen years, this new baby news has been getting Amber a lot of criticism — but not only from fans and viewers! Amber’s family and her ex, Gary Shirley, have all weighed in with their numerous concerns about Amber’s second child.

Not Matt!

Amber Portwood’s fans may have noticed that she sort of fell off the radar in recent months. Her activity on Instagram and Twitter dwindled, and she even missed filming for the upcoming Teen Mom reunion special.The star finally cleared up the reason behind her absence when she confirmed her pregnancy with her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon earlier this month.
Amber has been dating Andrew for less than six months, and, given his lengthy criminal record, not everyone is thrilled about the pregnancy. Especially given the fact that a new baby won’t just affect them!
Aside from Amber and Andrew, another baby joining the clan will have a profound effect on her fist daughter, Leah. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Leah’s father Gary has spoken out with his reaction to Amber’s pregnancy news. In an interview with In Touch magazine, Gary revealed that he was less than thrilled with the news:
“I don’t know [Andrew well] enough. I’m not saying she should’ve waited on him. I think she should’ve dated. I think the last time they talked — I don’t know what they’re doing — but I think he was trying to relocate or something. I think she should’ve stayed single longer and really gotten to know herself and get over someone before getting with someone else because that’s how you do it, man. The correct way. You don’t need someone to make you feel like you’re living.”

As for Amber’s family — well, they’re just happy that Andrew isn’t Matt! “If it was inevitable and she had to get pregnant with either Andrew or Matt, it’s safe to say her family would feel more comfortable with the current situation,” an insider close to Amber’s family told Radar Online. “Her family respected Matt, but from day one the whole family thought there was something fishy about the relationship.”
They added that the family was “never fully comfortable with [Matt] dating Amber.”
There’s one more thing that came to many fans’ minds when Amber announced her pregnancy: her sobriety. Amber got clean from her addiction years ago, but stressful times can sometimes lead to a relapse.
However, it seems Amber’s family isn’t particularly concerned about her drug use. A family insider told Radar Online “There isn’t an issue with her sobriety.” As for Andrew, the source added, “Andrew doesn’t have issues with addiction. He’s been busted in the past, but it’s not a recurring thing.”
The insider seemed to think that Portwood was taking a step up from Matt as well. “Her last relationship, there were recurring issues. If she was okay for those three years, then she will be fine now.”
