Growing Up Fast!
With so many of the Teen Mom stars having newborn babies within the past year, it’s easy to forget that some of them are getting much older. Since all of the girls started when they were teenagers, as they get older so do their little kids.
Amber Portwood’s daughter, Leah, is eight years old. Even though most of us remember being eight as a time of awkwardness or running around a playground, it looks like little Leah has already snagged a man! Her father, Gary Shirley, has revealed that she already has a boyfriend.

It’s somewhat shocking that it was a solid eight years ago that Amber Portwood’s daughter, Leah, was born. When Amber was still with Gary, they went through some serious rough patches. Eventually they parted ways, but when you have a kid together, you’re committing to co-parent even if your romantic relationship doesn’t work out.
Gary has little Leah full time, so he sees all. He’s opened up to In Touch Weekly to share that Leah’s growing up fast… and now has her own boyfriend! “Leah has a boyfriend now. She supposedly fell in love at the dinner table at school,” Gary said in his interview.
But, like any protective dad, Gary has his rules. After all, Leah is just a fourth grader. He said, “I was like, ‘just no kissing. That’s not allowed. Don’t hold his hand — three-second hugs.'”
Gary seems to have a lot of trust in his daughter despite her age. “She’s a very smart little girl,” Gary told In Touch. “We explain things a lot. We don’t want her to get taken advantage of and we want her to learn now so that when she is a little older, she’s focusing on school and doing the right thing, not following her mom and I’s path of having a child at a young age.”

As for Amber’s recent update of moving on to her new man Andrew Glennon, Gary is less approving. Gary told Us Weekly he was still learning about Andrew. “I don’t know enough of [Andrew] yet, and obviously with everything with Matt, I don’t just take it as people tell me… I have to learn myself, so I don’t know yet.”
It seems he takes issue with how quickly Amber started seeing him after she broke up with Matt. “So far it’s good I think,” he told Us, adding, “I think she should have waited a little bit and really felt it out, but that’s OK.”
Even so, Amber has approved of Gary and his relationship with his new wife Kristina. Gary told Us, “Amber approves, obviously… She always tells [Kristina] that she kind of picks up where [Amber] lacks.”
As for Amber, her recent tweet summed up her opinion well: “There’s nothing wrong with dating over 3 months after breaking up with someone..crazy how people judge and are so quick to talk sh*t? #FYou.”
