It's official!
Kailyn Lowry’s third pregnancy was more than a little unorthodox. She became pregnant shortly after her divorce from Javi Marroquin, which was scandal enough for many viewers. In fact, her divorce was covered during Season seven of Teen Mom 2, and her pregnancy was covered in Season eight!
Kailyn did her very best to keep her pregnancy a secret for as long as she could. She refused to discuss it during the show until the news had already leaked. Once she was showing, the next obvious question was “who’s the father?” Well, Kailyn managed to keep tight lipped about that, too, until she eventually confirmed that the ever elusive Chris Lopez was her third baby daddy.
But once her son was born, it didn’t put an end to the controversy. On top of battling with her baby daddy, there was something else fans were dying to know: what her son would be named! Her new baby was referred to as “Baby Lo” all throughout her pregnancy and even after he was born, while Kailyn deliberated on his name. Finally, after two months of namelessness, Kailyn settled on the name “Lux” for her son.
Now, just over a month later, Kailyn has announced that she’s already changing her son’s name. It looks like she has even formally filed to have his name legally changed! So what is she changing Lux’s name to?

One of the most exciting parts of having a baby is figuring out what their name will be. Many parents spend the entire nine months of pregnancy poring over baby naming books so that when their little one comes, the name is already picked out. For Kailyn Lowry, not so much.
Kailyn insisted that she wanted to wait a to name her son, nicknamed “Baby Lo,” until she was sure she’d chosen the right name for him. As it turns out, this process took longer than expected — Baby Lo didn’t formally become Lux until two months after he was born!
Now, Kailyn is filing to have his name legally changed again.
Single motherhood is a common aspect of Teen Mom. In fact, none of the girls except for Catelynn Lowell are still with their first baby daddy. This means that half of the battle of motherhood for the cast members is learning how to co-parent with someone they broke up with!
It seemed that for a while Kailyn hoped she wouldn’t be going through single motherhood yet again, hoping that she and Chris would manage to work it out. In fact, as recently as the end of September, Kailyn said that she and Chris were dating! But after some pretty nasty social media feuds between the new parents,, it became clear that these two were NOT meant to be. If there was any doubt about that, Kailyn’s recent move has sealed the deal.

One Reddit user, CarpellateAte, found a formal move filed by Kailyn to change Lux’s name. It reads,
“LUX RUSSELL LOPEZ TO LUX RUSSELL LOWRY; Filing Date: Monday , November 13th, 2017; Type: 4N – CHANGE OF NAME PETITION Status: ACTIVE.”
Although this is more of a symbolic move than anything, many fans interpreted this as a huge shift away from Chris. Still, some fans were confused. “Why would she give him Chris’s name [in the first place]? God did Kail just get it that Chris wants nothing with her,” wrote user i-am-canadian-sorry. “Was giving Lux his last name her last ditch effort.”
User powderdonut31 wrote, “Changing his last name doesn’t change the fact Chris is still the dad, still doesn’t want you, and isn’t going anywhere if he has a say in the matter.”
Whatever’s going on with Chris and Kailyn, it doesn’t seem to be bothering her too much — in fact, she just confirmed that she has a new girlfriend!
