Hindsight is 20/20!
Even though Amber Portwood’s new bae, Andrew Glennon, seems to have some skeletons in his closet, things between them seem to be going strong. So strong, in fact, that it might be easy to forget who Amber dated before him. Even though it seems impossible to ever forget the notorious Matt Baier, in many ways, Amber’s baby daddy Gary Shirley has fallen off the radar.
Eight years ago, Gary and Amber had Leah together. Their relationship was as rocky as any of the Teen Mom cast members, and, obviously, they eventually split up. But hindsight is 20/20, and now Gary is saying that he wishes he would have gotten out sooner. Honesty is the best policy, but poor Amber!

Amber Portwood’s long-time fans surely remember Gary Shirley. The father of their eight-year-old daughter Leah has supplied his fair share of drama to Amber’s life. Although they eventually split up, having a child with someone normally means that they’ll be in your life forever, so Amber and Gary still have a co-parenting relationship.
It’s been a while since they split up; it was after Amber was serving time in prison after violating her probation in 2011. Toward the end, things were less than healthy for the new parents, as they battled for custody and even struggled with domestic violence.
But now it looks like Gary is taking the time to reminisce on his decisions… And they’re not particularly flattering for Amber. Recently, it looks like he’s been thinking things should have ended much sooner.

“Originally, I really wanted to be with her. Now I’ve moved on,” Gary said in an interview with In Touch Weekly. “If I were to change anything [about our relationship], maybe myself towards her. I would have walked away a lot sooner.”
That’s not all that Gary had to say about Amber. In fact, he’s had some commentary about her relationship with Andrew Glennon to share as well. In an interview with Us Weekly, Gary said he was still learning about Andrew. “I don’t know enough of [Andrew] yet, and obviously with everything with Matt, I don’t just take it as people tell me… I have to learn myself, so I don’t know yet.” He added, “So far it’s good I think. I think she should have waited a little bit and really felt it out, but that’s OK.”
As for Amber, she had her own thoughts about how quickly she moved on to someone new after Matt. She tweeted, “There’s nothing wrong with dating over 3 months after breaking up with someone..crazy how people judge and are so quick to talk sh*t? #FYou.”

That said, it’s not all bad blood between Gary and Amber. At least according to Gary, Amber seems to approve of his relationship with his wife, Kristina. “Amber approves, obviously,” Gary told Us. “She always tells [Kristina] that she kind of picks up where [Amber] lacks.”
As for whether or not we’ll be seeing more little Gary’s running around, that doesn’t seem very likely. He told In Touch, “Actually Kristina had gotten her tubes tied. I would love to have more kids.”
