Finally some good legal news!
It looks like David Eason has avoided going back behind bars and will be able to walk down the aisle in the coming weeks after all! The Teen Mom fiancé was facing jail time once again after allegedly violating a protection from abuse order filed by one of his exes. Jenelle Evans’ hubby-to-be plead guilty to the charges in October of 2016 and was initially sentenced to 60 days on the inside. He never served any of those days, but he did head back to court this week to appeal the sentence — and it looks like he came out on top!
Longtime fans of the show will recall that the charges against David always seemed thin at best. He was brought up on the violation of the POA after seeing his son while out shopping and giving the child a hug in the store. According to Radar Online, the arrest warrant alleged that David “grabbed” his son upon seeing him which caused the child’s mother to become “frightened” for her son’s safety. So, yeah… The protective order technically does forbid David from having contact with his son (including hugging), but taking the matter to court does seem a bit rash on the mother’s part.
Then again, we don’t know the details of the protective order or why it was put in place in the first place, so, who knows. She might have a very good reason to want to keep her son away from Eason. After all, this isn’t David’s first time pleading his case in court. The 28-year-old has an extensive criminal record and has served time behind bars for a number of charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, breaking and entering, and larceny. Not to mention that it was during his six months in jail that he got to know Courtland Rogers, former husband of David’s future wife!
What we do know is that the judge seemed to agree that the circumstances of the case were shaky. After pleading his case once more, he was given 10 days instead of the original 60, but the judge eventually decided that the offense didn’t warrant any jail time at all from Eason. The judge suspended the reduced sentence in its entirety, opting to sentence him to one year of unsupervised probation instead of making him serve any time at all.
This probably comes as a relief to both Jenelle and David who are set to wed in just a few weeks (September 23, 2017) and have three kids — David’s daughter Maryssa, Jenelle’s son Kaiser, and their newborn baby Ensley — in their custody almost full time at this point. It wouldn’t be a great time for David to have to spend another two months in a cell.
All we can say is that we’re so happy for David, Jenelle, and the kids! Another stay in the big house is that last thing their family needs right now. Not to mention, it’s refreshing to finally have some good Teen Mom legal news for once — especially when it comes to Jenelle and David! This particular set of Teen Mom 2 stars has had a rough go of things in courtrooms over the years with arrests, law suits, and, of course, custody hearing after custody hearing. Hopefully this is a good omen moving forward and Jenelle’s own legal troubles will be settled soon!
