It’s easy to think that after someone makes an appearance on 16 and Pregnant or Teen Mom, they just fall off the radar entirely. After all, how many of the girls’ ex boyfriends and former friends have simply gone back to living quiet lives out of the public eye once their relationship with the cast members dwindled? That’s why when these former stars make it into the news, you know it’s going to be something particularly explosive.
In Kieffer Delp’s case, explosive might be exactly the right term. Jenelle Evans and Kieffer Delp were lovebirds soon after she gave birth to Jace, and (during her recent “Ex Files” special) Jenelle revealed that Kieffer was the sweetest ex she ever had. Unfortunately, he was also the one who introduced her to heroin.
Luckily for Jenelle, she and Kieffer ended things before his even darker habits began to start up. Now, it’s clear that she dodged a bullet, as Kieffer has just been arrested for operating a meth lab.
Meth Lab Operation
Jenelle has had plenty of bad influences in her life, but Kieffer Delp may have fit the role better than anyone else. In her memoir, Read Between The Lines: Diary of a Teenage Mom, she recalls that the period during which she dated Kieffer involved a lot of drug use.
“I did a lot of heroin and weed,” she wrote in the memoir. “That was all I did. Just smoked and shot up and laid around chillin.”
It was only about a week into this period of her life that Jenelle woke up on the bathroom floor after she had overdosed on heroin.
“I had no idea how long I was out or what I did during the time,” she recalled. “It was scary, not knowing. I asked Kieffer why I was lying on the f**king floor. Kieffer said I passed out.”
Needless to say, Jenelle demanded to know why Kieffer didn’t take her to the hospital. He simply told her, “Sometimes that just happens.”
“He meant that it was just a thing that happens on heroin,” she wrote. “Sometimes you just blackout. Sometimes you lie around on the bathroom floor while your boyfriend enjoys his high… Sometimes you go down and you don’t get back up.”
Luckily for Jenelle, the experience was a huge wake-up call. She later checked into a hospital for detox. Unfortunately, Kieffer didn’t follow in her footsteps. Apparently he went on to start using another drug, and even start producing it. According to the Post-Gazette, Kieffer was arrested after police discovered that he was operating a meth lab.
“Police received multiple complaints about a possible meth lab in the basement apartment and had been investigating it for a few weeks,” according to the outlet. “Upon conducting a search warrant, they found items and chemicals to substantiate the claim.”
Apparently, Kieffer was running this all by himself. “Mr. Delp is believed to have operated the meth lab on his own,” the Post-Gazette reports. “There are no other suspects at this time.”
According to the outlet, Kieffer’s bail was set at $50,000, which he was unable to produce. He is currently being held in Allegheny County Jail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on Jan. 23. The Post-Gazette reports that Kieffer “faces felony charges related to the manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamines and the improper disposal of chemicals.”
