Over the years, the cameras have been rolling during some of the most crucial moments of the Teen Mom cast members’ lives. After all, all of their first births were televised on 16 and Pregnant! As we all know, it’s not only happy times that are caught on camera. Although some of the most beautiful moments like births and weddings have been televised, MTV has also followed the girls through break ups, domestic violence, and even drug addiction.
Now, yet another heartbreaking life experience is going to be followed by MTV cameras, that will likely have many fans reaching out to this Teen Mom OG through her incredibly difficult time.
During this season of Teen Mom OG, we’ve seen sides of the cast members that we haven’t gotten a chance to witness in recent seasons. We’ve seen a touching and family-focused side of Farrah, a strict and unflinching side of Maci, and a pregnant and motherly side of Amber. However, Catelynn and Tyler’s changes are of a particularly difficult variety. Now, it’s clear that we’ll be able to follow them through the entirety of this devastating time.
In late November, Catelynn shared an update with fans that was hard to swallow for many. “Well today I thought of every way to [commit suicide] .. so I’m going to treatment,” she tweeted. She added, “I’m seeking treatment and I WILL get better. This won’t last forever.”
However, as anyone with mental illness knows, the road to recovery usually isn’t a straight path. Although Catelynn left treatment over the holidays, she recently announced that she needed more attention than she had previously thought.
“Well they say third time’s a charm. I’m going back to treatment people for 6 weeks to work on my trauma and getting on different meds,” she shared on Jan. 16.
Putting It All Out There
Now, it seems we’ll be getting more insight into this experience than many thought, as MTV will be following Catelynn into the treatment center.
“Catelynn had a production crew with her as she went back to rehab again,” an insider told Radar Online. “They were filming her as she tried to get treatment again.”
Another insider also revealed why Catelynn headed back to treatment a second time. “Her suicidal thoughts before were so strong that therapy two times a week wouldn’t help,” they told Radar. “Last time was too close of a call. It’s going to take more than a few weeks of therapy to help her recover. If not, [Tyler Baltierra] said that she said she’s afraid that things like this will always occur.”
They shared that, in her treatment, Catelynn will be working on “trying to accept her upbringing, the adoption and all of the trauma.” The source went on:
“There is a lot of deep-rooted stuff going on. This is pretty much her ultimate comeback. She wants to make sure she’s at 100 percent before she leaves treatment and unfortunately she isn’t that confident in her overall mental health yet.”
Although Tyler tweeted saying that he doesn’t know if he can “do this anymore,” leading many fans to think he and Catelynn are heading toward a split, the source confirmed that they’re going to make their marriage work.
“Ty said that they both know how long the road is ahead of them but they’re ready,” the source said. “They’re completely in love and fully committed to getting better in every aspect, both of them. Ty said once Cate is out of treatment and in a better place they’ll focus on having another kid. A happy ending is what they’re after.”
