It's not pretty!
They say that people who are opposites make the best couples. Maybe that’s why Amber Portwood and Matt Baier were never able to work it out! Despite being together for three years, and even beginning to plan a wedding together, Amber and Matt ultimately split up.
We all know how the story ends: Matt moves back to Las Vegas and marries a waitress, while Amber gets pregnant by her new boyfriend, Andrew Glennon. But what exactly went down toward the end of their relationship? That’s the real mystery.
Thanks to the miracle of reality television, every moment of Amber and Matt’s downfall was captured for the WEtv show, Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition. Now, the first clips of the explosive fighting that led to their downfall have been released, and the tensions are running higher than anyone expected.

A Relationship Ending

With the distance between them these days it’s hard to even imagine Amber and Matt were ever together. Amber is preparing to welcome her second child into the world with her new boyfriend Andrew Glennon, and Matt recently tied the knot with a Las Vegas waitress. But in their prime, Matt and Amber were practically inseparable… which means that when things got ugly, they got really ugly.
Not unlike some of their Teen Mom co-stars, Amber and Matt headed to Marriage Boot Camp on WEtv to try and work things out. Apparently it didn’t work out exactly as planned, considering that the former couple apparently spent the majority of the show viciously on camera.

“I tried to give you a family!” Amber screams in this preview. Matt shoots back, “I don’t want that family!” Ouch!
It’ll be a while before we get to see exactly what the were fighting about, but it’s safe to assume that it wasn’t pretty. It doesn’t seem that the Marriage Boot Camp techniques worked for them, as it wasn’t able to patch up this relationship. In the meantime, their time on the show unintentionally started a whole new family. Even though it didn’t help Matt and Amber, it proved fateful in one way: Amber met Andrew Glennon while on set!
It seems that at this point in their relationship, there was no hope for saving them. After all, both parties were extremely quick to move on after they ultimately split up. We all know that Amber is settling down with her entirely new family, and Matt also got hitched to someone entirely new.
“[Getting married] was one of those situations where it just kind of felt like the right thing,” Matt revealed in an interview with E! News.“We really get each other. We both have overcome a lot of stuff. It felt like the right thing to do. It just kind of happened that way.”
He added that their decision to get married “just kind of came up,” but that he kept his relationship private since she’s not a celebrity.
As for his split from Amber, Matt insists that he only wishes the best. “I’ll hold out hope for a reconciliation,” he previously told E!, “But if nothing else, I hope we can stay friends.”
He continued:
“We started off as best friends and that’s what I miss the most from her—her friendship. To not have that is painful. When something happens, my natural instinct still is to call her and tell her everything. She was my family.”
