It was no surprise at all when Kailyn Lowry announced she was pregnant with her second child. She was in a committed relationship with her long-time boyfriend, Javi Marroquin, and most people expected them to start a family together. But when she announced her third pregnancy while she wasn’t even dating anyone, fans were blown away.
Kailyn’s pregnancy was controversial from day one, but fans have never had any reason to question how much she loves Lux. But just why did she decide to have her son to begin with?

This season of Teen Mom OG, many of the cast members are opening up about their miscarriages. Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell both revealed that they had experienced the loss of an unborn child. It’s well known that Kailyn Lowry also experienced this loss, so when Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra made a guest appearance on Kailyn’s podcast, Coffee Convos, it’s no surprise the topic came up. That’s when Kailyn gave more insight about her third pregnancy.
“We definitely want more kids,” Catelynn informed Kailyn on the show. “Especially after the miscarriage. We’re not rushing into things right now… I want to make sure that I’m healthy and happy and I’m still working on myself and if it comes, awesome.” Then, Kailyn shared her own experiences.

“I had multiple miscarriages,” she revealed. “They kind of showed it on the show, but I kind of felt the same way after that. I went through a period where I’m like ‘I’m never having any more kids. I’m just going to be done, I guess. It’s not for me.’” Of course, that didn’t last very long.
“After I had time to grieve, I felt like, ‘Okay, now I’m in a place where if it happens it’s meant to be and if not then it’ not,” Kailyn went on. “And then Lux came along! So i definitely can understand and I empathize and sympathize with all of that.”
She told Catelynn and Tyler that she was proud they spoke out about the issues on television. “I give you a lot of credit for talking about it as well,” she said.
