Where was Kail?
Kailyn Lowry has had a pretty intense 2017. While still at odds with her ex-husband Javi, Kailyn got pregnant with another man, Chris Lopez, and gave birth to his son. She then revealed that Chris was cheating on her the entire time, and after taking a quick break from relationships, she’s now dating a new lucky lady. In the meantime, her ex-husband Javi is now dating her co-star, Briana DeJesus! That’s enough drama for some people’s entire lifetime, but Kailyn managed to knock it all out in twelve months. Needless to say, fans were very excited for her to relive and hash out everything she went through for the Teen Mom new year’s special.
… But Kailyn never showed. Although she made appearances during the beginning of the special and was present for the wrap party, she wasn’t featured during the That’s A Wrap special. She and Amber were the only two to dodge the party, since Amber had only just found out she was pregnant again.
So what was Kailyn’s reason? Many fans immediately assumed that she simply couldn’t stand to be around her ex-husband and his new lady, or maybe even that a huge fight broke out and Kailyn stormed off of the set. Now, Kailyn is explaining exactly why she wasn’t there for the reunion.

It’s pretty uncomfortable to be around an ex of any type, but an ex-spouse can be incredibly difficult. Committing to spend the rest of your life with someone and then cutting it off within a matter of years almost always results in bad blood. Pair that with the fact that Kailyn’s ex-husband was cozying up with a new woman who just happens to be her co-star, and it’s hard to blame her for not wanting to be in that room.
But Kail is never one to back down from a fight, and she always stands her ground when she believes she’s in the right. Even, she was nowhere to be seen during the special. Amber Portwood had an excuse for her absence, considering she had just gotten pregnancy news – so what was the star’s explanation?

As it turns out, there was one very simple explanation for Kailyn’s absence: her little boy, Lux. Now that Lux is getting bigger every day, it’s easy to forget that at the time of filming, he was still essentially a newborn. “While of course I was invited to participate in it — and had planned to film in it — I had to leave to be with my son, Lux, who was only 10 weeks old at the time,” Kailyn Lowry told Us Weekly.
Of course, not everyone believed this explanation, and many are still convinced that she left to dodge Javi and Briana. Others think she may have booked it after some of the drama that went down during the filming, and considering that David Eason pulled a knife during the party, it’s hard to blame her for wanting out.
Still, the Teen Mom insists that Lux was the one and only reason. “My priorities are my kids and I’m happier that I got to have that night with Lux,” she said to Us.
