She's speaking out about the difficulty!
Just because the Teen Mom cast members have higher paychecks and more fame than most people does not mean they are immune to tragedy. In fact, over the years we have watched the cast members suffer through hardship, homelessness, and physical and mental illnesses despite their celebrity statuses. Now this cast member is revealing her own personal struggles, specifically with cancer.
Such a diagnosis can be entirely devastating, and family and loved ones are a crucial part of getting through the hardship. Unfortunately for this star, she has revealed that her family hasn’t been there for her at all.
Many of the Teen Moms have serious skeletons in their closets, and over the years the hardships hidden in their pasts have come to light. Often, they choose to reveal their stories in their own time with memoirs or tell-alls, which is exactly the path that Farrah Abraham’s mother, Debra Danielsen, decided to go down.
Her memoir recalls what it was like for her while Farrah was growing older, including her rocky marriage to Michael and even her struggle with body image. She has also revealed her struggle with cancer, including her feeling that her family snubbed her through the difficulty.
Debra lost her father to colon cancer, and merely two weeks after his passing, she discovered she had the same kind of cancer.
“A few days after we buried my father, I went in for a life-saving operation,” she wrote in her memoir. “The surgeon removed 13.5 feet of intestine to ensure that the 4-centimeter polyp was going to cause no further problems.”
She explained that the procedure devastated her physically. “I had gone from being very athletic to not walking at all as a result of this colon surgery,” she explained, adding that it was “very difficult” to walk or even stand up.

What she seemed to be most upset about, though, was the reaction from her family — or lack thereof. “None of my family members came to the hospital to be with me,” she wrote. “It was very scary, lonely and hurtful.”
In an interview with Radar Online, Debra revealed that, after extensive testing, it was revealed that she “never had cancer.” However, she said that “[t]here was a 99% chance it would turn into cancer.”
Even after her diagnosis, surgery, and her family’s abandonment, Debra was able to find the positives from it. Despite the fact that she “gets dehydrated more easily,” Debra has begun to eat healthier after her struggle.
This is far from the only revelation that Debra made in her memoir. She also revealed that her ex-husband and Farrah’s father Michael had a long-term cocaine addiction.
“I had an extremely bad addiction problem in my 20s. It was a cocaine addiction,” Michael recently confirmed to Radar Online after his addiction was exposed by Debra. In fact, it got so bad that he needed professional attention. “I had relapsed and I went to rehab,” he explained.
Farrah herself previously revealed her own experience with cocaine after she lost her boyfriend Derek in a car accident. “I started crying about Derek to some guy I was kind of into, and everything I had been holding down for months came spewing out of my like vomit,” Farrah wrote in her own memoir. “The next morning I woke up looking and feeling like a mess, and my nose hurt from the coke.” She added, “I’m not proud of this episode, but it was a good wake up call for me.”
