Matt and Amber get real!
Amber Portwood and Matt Baier are one of the more controversial couples in the Teen Mom franchise. For one, Matt is in his 40s, so the age gap is alarming to some. Other than that, Matt is constantly being called out for his “mysterious” past.

Amber and Matt sit down to answer the hard questions.
When asked how she feels about the way MTV portrays her on screen, she says, “We don’t go by a script, you see our lives. I’ve never let a producer or director tell me what to do or think or what to say.”
Amber continues, “However, you don’t let them give you the ideas; you don’t let them make your story. And that’s what it becomes, especially after 9 years of this.”
Choosing Prison

Fun fact, Amber actually chose to go to prison. She shared the reason behind her difficult choice.
“I was in something called drug court and I was chewing on fentanyl patches. I went into court one day and I said, I want to go to prison.” Amber continued, “I said, ‘I wanna go to prison because this isn’t working. Nothing’s working.’”
Personality Disorder

Amber also struggles with a personality disorder. She was asked if she believed that her mental illness made her journey to sobriety more difficult.
“When I got out of prison I was sober from everything… I tried to do it myself for… two years,” Amber revealed. According to the star, she is still on a “low dose of medication,” but she is very proud of herself.
