Caring for a loved one who has a disease as serious and potentially fatal as cancer is an absolutely heartbreaking experience to go through. That’s why it’s not a subject that anyone should take lightly, and speaking about it out of turn is enough to upset anyone who has experienced it firsthand.
Jenelle Evans is a pretty divisive member of the Teen Mom cast — you either love her or you hate her, especially these days. But these fans’ suspicions that she made up her husband David having cancer for attention could be enough to upset even her biggest fans.

Jenelle Evans is always willing to interact with her fans on social media. Oftentimes, she chimes in when fans throw out words of support for her, elaborating on her situation and giving inside looks into her life. However, this recent strand of tweets that she has since deleted have some fans completely appalled.
Jenelle recently changed her profile picture to a sweet shot of her and David dancing at their wedding. One fan commented, claiming that taller people have shorter lifespans, which upset Jenelle and many of her fans.
“I don’t know why the other person threw in the short life span expectancy comment,” wrote one fan on Twitter. That was not cool.” Jenelle replied, “especially becuz [David is] a cancer survivor…”
Many fans offered concern and surprise and Jenelle’s revelation, but one fan accused her of lying about David’s condition. “He had preventative surgery!” they wrote. “He didn’t have cancer! Like women have preventative mastectomies because they have a family history. If [David] really was a cancer survivor don’t you think Jenelle would’ve sold a million stories by now?”
Jenelle quickly shot back, “Uhm… he had a thyroidectomy, why do you think he has a scar across his throat?! He just doesn’t scream it out to everyone. It’s scary for us to deal with.” She added, “Sure… he had radiation therapy, of course none of his family was there helping him either going through this. If you only knew the truth.”

Fans on Reddit were not convinced. User ABrickForSheep wrote, “I’m so glad she got called out for lying about that. He didn’t have cancer and his family was there for it all. His mom and sister’s Facebook posts about it are all you need to know. It was preventative surgery.” User pitbull_mama 12 agreed, “His own mom said on Facebook a few years ago that it was preventative.”
But not everyone was so convinced that Jenelle was lying. User Jonbonnet wrote, “Why would Jenelle have sold a million stories about this? I want to slap the shit out of the person who would act that way on Twitter. Sounds like they think they know about all cancer surviors, when they most certainly don’t. My gosh harass her about everything and anything. If something isn’t going on people make shit up for her. Having your thyroid removed is a big deal so I don’t know what that clown is yammering on about.”
User NowIgotNoPipe wrote, “Why is everyone here assuming they know his personal medical history? Ridiculous.”
It’s unclear where the truth is, especially since Jenelle and David’s family are telling two very different stories about his health. Either way, it looks like many fans not particularly happy with Jenelle right now.
