When it comes to the Teen Mom cast, there seems to be an endless supply of unpopular, deadbeat, or even abusive dads.
It’s no wonder why some of the baby daddies on the shows aren’t exactly father material: they all become fathers at young ages, and like the main cast members themselves, they were totally unprepared for parenthood. But unlike the moms, the dads were able to slip out the back door and get away with partially or fully abandoning their children.
Luckily, as the cast members grew up, they were able to make more mature decisions about who they date and have children with. And even though some of them are still figuring it out, everyone seems pretty sure that Chelsea Houska has found the perfect guy for her: Cole DeBoer.
Unfortunately, even though Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer seem to be soulmates, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the Houskas. In addition to struggling to balance a family with three children, two of which are very young, they also have to be advocates to Chelsea’s first daughter Aubree when it comes to her flaky father, Adam.
And even though Cole isn’t Aubree’s biological father, he is still a great father to her and provides the love and attention that she isn’t getting from Adam. Fans watched on with devastation as Aubree and Chelsea drove a half an hour so Aubree could spend time with Adam at a visitation center, only for Adam to flake out — and it was pretty clear that Cole was hit equally hard by the update.
It’s clear that Cole just wants the best of his step-daughter, and this recent update totally tugged at our heartstrings.
It’s hard to believe that Aubree is already in fourth grade, but the show commemorated her first day for all of us to take part in. Because of Cole’s busy work schedule, he’s not often available to attend first days, but he happened to take off work because Watson had prevented him from getting a full night’s sleep the night before.
“Aubree, I can’t believe you’re going to go to fourth grade, what the heck?!” Cole gushed to Aubree, who, of course, was not sweating it at all.
“Don’t be nervous,” he said. “You’re amazing.”
But mama Chelsea cut that off. “Okay, I think you’re making her nervous,” she pointed out.
“Don’t say ‘No pressure,’ ‘cuz then people get pressured,” Aubree advised.
After a hug goodbye, Aubree was off — but it seemed to be getting to Cole. As he and Chelsea drove back home, tears pooled up in his eyes!
“You always think your parents are crazy,” Cole said, tearing up, “When they say that you grow up too fast… it’s crazy!”
Even though Aubree’s relationship with her biological father Adam is pretty complicated lately, it’s reassuring for fans to see that Cole cares about her as if she were his own. It’s safe to say that of all of the Teen Mom kids, Chelsea’s kids are some of the luckiest since they have two fully adoring and committed parents.
