Much like many of the Teen Mom stars, Chelsea Houska has a very complicated relationship with her first baby daddy, Adam Lind.
For long time fans of Teen Mom, it’s no real secret as to why. Adam has been far from present in their daughter Aubree Lind’s life, and has also had a complicated history with addiction and violent behavior that has made Chelsea hesitant to let her daughter spend too much time with her biological father.
Now, Adam is coming off of probation, and may be making another appearance in Chelsea’s life.
In 2017, Adam Lind started a downward spiral that he may not have begun recovering from. This all started in June when he tested positive for methamphetamines right before he was scheduled to spend time with his daughter.
He then violated a protection order that his ex had placed against him, landing him behind bars. While he was there, another ex was granted a restraining order against Adam.
During this time, Adam was prohibited from contacting any of his past victims, as well as Chelsea Houska. But recently, all of this has been set to change.
A recent report from Radar Online has revealed that a clerk from Lincoln County Court in South Dakota confirmed that “the condition of [Adam]’s sentence expired and that the case is currently closed.”
The clerk also confirmed that Adam has not committed any crimes in Lincoln County in the past year.
Even though these limitations have been dropped from Adam, fans aren’t totally convinced that he’s turned a new leaf — and it’s not hard to see why.
“I hope he’s doing better,” wrote borntohula24 on reddit. “I was watching back some old episodes, I believe season 8, when Chelsea was discussing his drug use and she very quickly says ‘apparently his depression is really bad too’ and it really struck me because I hadn’t noticed her mention that before and I don’t recall hearing that discussed here either.” They went on, “If he’s struggling with depression I really feel for him. I know everyone likes to hate on Adam but I’ve always felt that there was something else going on with him, he’s always seemed to have a kind of sadness about him. He’s been labelled a deadbeat loser from day one and any attempts he’s made to be better (albeit minor) have been met with nothing but snark and sniggering from Chelsea & Randy etc.”
Some are also curious how Chelsea would react if Adam actually does clean up his act. User PenelopeAliWatson wrote:
“I’ve wondered for a while if Chelsea actually wants him to get better and be involved because that would disrupt her little life she’s made. I don’t know how I would feel. Imagine if he came to her and said “hey I’m sober and not in legal trouble, let me be involved again.’ I wonder what she would do? I’d be super hesitant myself, but it would be wrong to deny him the chance if he could really prove sobriety and no legal problems just because I was comfortable with my current life without him.”
Recently, even Kailyn Lowry spoke out about Chelsea’s decision to keep Adam at arm’s length.
“I didn’t have my dad at all & as an adult I feel like that was the best case scenario instead of the back & forth. I agree with Chelsea,” Kailyn wrote.
“People like to say ‘You only have one mom’ or ‘You only have one dad,’” commented user Razorblade_Kiss on reddit. “But they don’t like to think about what if that person is a sh*t person? Why would you want someone in your life if they are f*cking terrible?”
But user blackerthanapanther pointed out, “It’s a lose-lose situation. Either Chelsea cuts Adam and his family out now and Aubree will hate it because she has a connection with them all, or maintain contact and Aubree will eventually figure out on her own that her dad is messed up and she’ll hate it. It sucks all the way around, but regardless, getting her in therapy sooner rather than will be better for her.”
