Catelynn Lowell has been through some seriously difficult times in her life, but recent news that she lost her unborn child to a miscarriage has fans hearts broken. Although the news was rumored before it broke on Teen Mom OG, it was a while before Catelynn and Tyler were able to voice the experience in their own words.
Now, this couple is opening up about their harrowing experience with losing their child. With Catelynn in and out of treatment for her suicidal thoughts, this update explains just how difficult a miscarriage can be on woman and on a couple.

Even though many reports rumored that Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra recently suffered a miscarriage, the couple itself has been relatively quiet on the subject. Catelynn has been vocal about her decision to get treatment for her depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, but until recently it wasn’t clear what the tipping point was that made her choose to get treatment. Now, Catelynn and Tyler are opening up about the event that may have made things impossible to get through without help: Catelynn’s recent miscarriage.
“Very Traumatic”

“It was very traumatic,” Tyler recalled while cameras rolled on Teen Mom OG. It was clear that he was extremely shaken by this update as well. “You see her shaking and she got blood everywhere, you don’t know what to do.”
After Catelynn stopped losing blood, it became clear what had happened. “She kind of cleaned herself up and we figured what was going on.” Then, the couple shut down. “We sat in the bed and cried. Just held each other. There’s nothing you can really do.”
Catelynn got medical attention to confirm that she had indeed miscarried. It wasn’t much longer after that that Catelynn checked into a treatment center for having suicidal thoughts. In a later scene, Tyler broke down after learning his wife was in a bad place.
“When you love someone like that and they say that, it’s like…” he said, and then started to cry.

Tyler got support from his producer, Kerthy. “It’s incredible that you were able to find a treatment facility so quickly,” she said. “‘Cause once someone says they want to kill themselves, you can’t f*ck around.”
Tyler agreed, but it’s clear he still needs to process the event himself. “I really wanted that baby,” he said through tears. “LIfe’s just not giving me a break right now.”
After the episode aired, Tyler took to Twitter to reach out to fans about his experience. He wrote:
That baby may have not been fully grown in the womb…but it was fully grown in our hearts. For every parent out there who has lost a baby…it is not your fault & it is more than acceptable & understandable to mourn the loss of that baby & take your time to grieve #ParentStrong.”
