Teen Mom exists for baby drama, but this latest pregnancy announcement is just plain strange. The star claims they got pregnant from a birth control mishap, but how she explained it has us questioning whether or not that is possible.
The last pregnancy update we got was from Cheyenne Floyd’s ex, Cory Wharton. Cory and his girlfriend Taylor Selfridge announced they were expecting after internet speculation.
The couple confirmed the news to Us Weekly, alongside a professional photoshoot.
“It was definitely a surprise,” Cory told the outlet. Taylor is currently 11 weeks along, and this will be her first child. “Just being there from the day she found out that she’s pregnant and knowing that it was mine, I knew that I was going to have to step up.”
“For me, this is like my first baby, almost, as weird as that sounds,” he said. Cory is also worried that his next child will have the same genetic disorder as Ryder, which is VLCAD. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the disorder prevents the body from converting fats into energy, which can be harmful during periods where a person is not or cannot eat.
“They think that I’m a carrier for VLCAD, because my daughter has it,” Cory said to Us. “We just need to make sure that she’s not a carrier. The next test is genetic testing. I would say that this is a blessing for us both.”
He said the new child has also helped Taylor and him feel closer to one another. “We’re going to have to deal with each other for the rest of our lives, you know?” he said. “If we like each other, if we stay together, if we decide to coparent, if we decide to get married … whatever it is, we have to be able to communicate.”
This time around, fans watched as Kayla Sessler told her boyfriend she was pregnant. “I told Luke I took a pregnancy test, and we’re still in shock that it’s positive,” she said in the voiceover.
“I mean obviously I didn’t want another kid right now, that’s why I was taking birth control,” she told her boyfriend. Neither of them looked too thrilled about the news, to be honest. “Do you remember that week that you, me, and Izaiah were all sick and throwing up? I probably threw up my birth control and didn’t realize it.”
We all know that this has worked out for the better for the two of them, but can someone really get pregnant from throwing up their birth control?
