“They make helmets for bronc riders……just saying….put one on the kid!” one Instagram user wrote.
“No thanks I’ll live my life the way I want,” replied Mackenzie.
“So if he would of fell…and hit his head…then what??” said another commenter.
“Welp, don’t take your kids to the pool, to the park, to school, don’t let them walk outside of sleep on a bad because they could fall off,” the Teen Mom replied as well. “H**l don’t let them get in a car. That’s some dangerous stuff that has landed far more kids on the hospital than a freakin small pony trotting. Good grief yall.”
“The pony is not trotting but ok lol,” said another Instagram user that hopped on the comment thread.
The horse is most certainly not trotting, and her son is young, so protective gear would not be a bad idea. Other commenters supported Mackenzie and her decision to allow her son to ride without a helmet.
“Shouldn’t we be more concerned that as parents we are having to buy bullet proof backpacks to try and keep our kids alive at school?” wrote one user.
“Geez people, some of you need to slap some helmets on your on own kids, wrap them in bubble wrap too cause some of you are definitely raising babies….” wrote another.
“Freaking mom shamers lord help you all,” wrote a third.
