To say that April has been tough for Matt and Amber is an understatement
It’s been quite a week for Teen Mom OG’s Amber Portwood and her fiancé Matt Baier. The couple has been controversial from the get-go thanks to their 20-year age gap, but as time has gone on it’s become clear that their age difference isn’t the only thing that sets Matt and Amber apart. While the other Teen Moms have their fair share of drama and mayhem, their scandals tend to focus on thoughtless Instagram posts or throwing shade at each other in interviews. This Amber and Matt thing? It’s a whole different breed.

Matt Baier quickly earned a reputation on Teen Mom OG and it’s far from a flattering one. I mean, it does make sense. I’m sorry, but Matt just doesn’t give off good vibes; There is something undeniably shady about him. And it’s probably the fact that he’s a 40-something man who was seemingly obsessed with dating one (any) of the Teen Moms.

As is now well-documented, Baier spent months trying to get the attention of the Teen Mom stars on Twitter—and not just that of Amber Portwood. Both Farrah and Jenelle have come forward and said that Matt was interacting with each of them on social media before finally moving on to (and succeeding in getting the attention of) Portwood.
The pair quickly became “serious” with Matt moving in with Amber upon their first in-person meeting and an engagement came soon after. That engagement was eventually broken when another interesting piece of Matt’s past came to light—or should I say… at least five pieces?

In December of 2015—after about a year of dating Amber—news broke that Matt had multiple children from many different women and that Amber was unaware of that information for a significant part of their relationship. It’s unclear when Portwood herself found out, but the rest of us discovered it all when Portwood’s ex, Gary Shirley, let it slip on camera that, not only did he have the kids and ran away, but he was in some fairly serious legal trouble for it all.
Shortly after that reveal, we found out about another Baier child—from the kid’s mother, Kelly Nunn, and things just kept spiraling out from there.
