This is getting serious!
There’s always drama between members of the Teen Mom cast. If there weren’t, no one would watch! It’s true that most of the entertainment value of the show comes place from the feuds and fighting, but sometimes things get much more serious than petty Twitter drama. When the law gets involved, you know things are getting much more intense, and even dangerous.
Some cast members have experience going through the law to protect themselves and their children, and it was only a matter of time before Maci Bookout joined those ranks. Given what’s going on with her ex Ryan Edwards, was she concerned for her family’s safety?
Maci Bookout puts one thing above anything else in her life: her family. She’s made that perfectly clear this season of Teen Mom OG, especially when it comes to her ex, Ryan Edwards. Despite Ryan’s begging and the demands from his parents Jen and Larry, Maci refused to let Ryan spend any time with Bentley alone until he passed a drug test in front of her.
At the time, some of this behavior may have seemed a bit extreme. After all, Ryan had gone through a rehab program! But time has proven that Maci made the right decision: Ryan Edwards has relapsed into his heroin addiction.
Only days after it was announced that his wife, Mackenzie Standifer, is pregnant with his child, an upsetting update about Ryan came out. He was arrested on March 27 for heroin possession despite his time in rehab.
Going to Court
“He was held on $5,000 bond,” a spokesperson for Hamilton County Jail in Tennessee revealed to Radar. “He was bonded out at 10:15pm.”
The outlet revealed that Ryan “was arrested at his home on a warrant at 3pm on March 27 for petition to revoke, which means breaking probation, related to a past simple possession of heroin charge.”
Maci has yet to make any public statement about Ryan’s relapse, but that’s not really her style. Even so, it’s clear that she’s gotten the news and that she is taking it very seriously. In fact, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Maci Bookout and her husband Taylor McKinney have filed protective orders against Ryan.
According to the outlet, a judge will decide on April 2 whether to grant the Orders of Protection after Maci and Taylor attend a hearing in a Hamilton County courthouse.
If granted, this protection will act similarly to a restraining order and will prevent Ryan from “abusing, stalking or assaulting the filer(s), or threatening to do so. It also prevents [Ryan] from telephoning, contacting or communicating with the filer(s) in any way or through another person.”
If granted, this will mean Ryan won’t have contact with Maci, Taylor, or their children. This will theoretically include Bentley, as Maci has custody of him. According to The Ashley, a violation of this protective order could result in Ryan being arrested and jailed for up to 11 months and 29 days.
However, it would be difficult for Maci and Taylor to file such a serious order just based on Ryan’s addiction. Many fans believe this means that Ryan may have gotten violent with Maci and her family, resulting in her filing the protection.
