In fact, Kailyn has opened up with her complicated relationship with her self image before. As she revealed in her book, Hustle and Heart, she struggled with eating disorders while she was younger.
“For a long time I had very low self esteem,” Kailyn penned. “For a variety of reasons, I struggled to believe in the possibility that I might actually be worth the love of others… I was constantly nitpicking everything about myself.”
“For years I struggled with eating disorders, and I was extremely self-conscious about my weight,” she revealed. “As anyone who’s been in this situation knows, this is rarely something you ever completely get over. It’s nice to think that the ultimate goal would be to feel totally at peace with my body, whatever it looks like.. But in reality, that’s something that has to be maintained continuously.”
Luckily, Kailyn soon turned to healthier weight loss techniques. “I took up Crossfit with the hope of putting an end to my constant weight fluctuations and the turmoil that came with them,” she said. “It was a great decision.” But she added, “Still, after fourteen months, I wasn’t getting the specific results I was hoping for. I’d committed so thoroughly to working out and maintaining a healthy diet, but it was clear there was only so much I could do to change the shape of my body.”
That’s when Kailyn turned to surgery to get the look she wanted, even if it was a controversial decision.
“So, I made a choice,” Kailyn revealed. “A choice that isn’t right for everyone, but was right for me. After much thought and research, I decided to get plastic surgery.”
She revealed that it was controversial even then. “When the news about my plastic surgery broke, social media erupted with people from all over the world spouting off their opinions about my decision. As you can imagine, most people only had negative things to say.” But Kailyn didn’t let it get to her.
