A fair share of Teen Mom cast members are familiar with the inside of a jail cell, and some of them like Amber Portwood, have even done time in prison.
Now it seems that Kailyn Lowry isn’t afraid of joining her cast-members who have had trouble with the law, and she’s opening up about spending time in prison.
Given that she has three baby daddies, it’s impossible to expect Kailyn Lowry to be on good terms with all of them at the same time. Even though she had a long stretch of getting along with her first baby daddy Jo Rivera, recently, things have gotten tense between them again.
This is due in part to the fact that Kailyn recently took her son with Jo, Isaac Rivera, on a vacation to Hawaii that was a bit longer than anticipated. In fact, the legal water was so murky that even MTV didn’t want to get caught up in it, and they refused to film Kailyn during the vacation.
Kailyn revealed on her podcast, Coffee Convos, that this came from a place of concern that Jo would press charges on her since she took Isaac on vacation on a day that Jo was supposed to spend time with him.
Kailyn said that she followed legal protocol, a court ordered 30 day notice, for Jo to request to take her eldest son on vacation. She added a third week to the trip after submitting this request, but assumed that since she had custody that week it would not be an issue.
When he finally responded, her baby daddy said she wasn’t able to take their son for the 4th of July. Kailyn then offered to trade Christmas or next year’s July holiday since the vacation was already booked.
Now it looks like even though Kailyn tried to make it work with Jo, her decision to take Isaac longer than agreed upon is something she’s willing to face jailtime over.
In the sneak peek from this week’s episode, Kailyn lays it out on the table.
“If I have to sit in jail for my son to go experience a month in Hawaii, then you’re d*mn f*cking right I’m going to go sit in jail,” she exclaims.
Fans on reddit had conflicting opinions about Kailyn’s decision.
“Thanks to Jo, Issac (and his brothers) are the real winners in this,” one user wrote. “They got to have a true vacation without MTV filming it. So hopefully Jo actually standing up to Kail will start teaching her she needs to respect boundaries before her own sons are old enough to start putting up boundaries.”
In the preview for next week’s episode, Kailyn also made it clear that things with her and Javi aren’t exactly great, either.
After taking her little ones to Jiu-Jitsu, one of the producers approaches Kail in her car to inform her of her ex’s big news. “Did you see this?” the producer asks. “Javi and Lauren are engaged.”
“Yes,” Kail says. “I already knew it was happening. I didn’t know he actually did it, but I knew it was going to happen.”
“Are you going to congratulate him?” the producer asks.
“No,” Kailyn says. Then she adds, very sarcastically, “Congrats! Good luck! He’s been cheating on you since you were pregnant! Adios!”
Well, if Kailyn does go to jail, one thing is sure: She won’t be the first Teen Mom star to do jail time, and she won’t be the last.
