Is this goodbye?
Sometime or another, Teen Mom will unfortunately come to an end. The show has been on for nearly a decade now, and as the cast members continue to grow up and branch out, there may come a day that they no longer want to be reality stars. Or maybe MTV will just decide to move on to other projects!
It’s hard to blame the cast members for considering their post-fame options. Kailyn Lowry may be one of the most prepared cast members for the show’s ending, considering her education and experience. But is she planning to jump ship before Teen Mom even formally ends? She’s just announced a huge career change, and it seems we may be seeing the last of Kailyn’s Teen Mom fame!
Educated and Experienced
Kailyn Lowry is the first Teen Mom cast member to receive her four-year bachelor’s degree, and she’s the also first to remind everyone about it! She has a lot to be proud of, considering how much dedication goes into being a “Mom of Three Plus A Degree.” She got her degree in communications, and between her experience on the set of Teen Mom and her time hosting her podcast Coffee Convos, it seems that she’s ready to enter the world or production. But now it looks like she wants to try something entirely new.
Kailyn Lowry locked down her communication degree last season of Teen Mom, and you’d think she’d be happy to have school behind her. But apparently, she just can’t get enough!
“Going back to school,” Kailyn recently announced on Twitter, making it clear that she isn’t quite finished.
But Kailyn isn’t pursuing a higher degree in her field — she revealed that she wants to become a registered nurse!
Kailyn was clearly born to be a mother, so the nurturing side of her will be put to great use as a nurse. Still, fans were quick to point out that nursing programs are often extremely demanding, particularly for those with children. In fact, Kailyn isn’t the only Teen Mom star to pick this choice; Teen Mom OG star Mackenzie Standifer is also planning on going to nursing school!
Harder Than it Looks
“Kail I think would probably be fine in nursing school,” wrote reddit user Pm_me_baby_pig_pics. “She’s stubborn enough to prove that she can do it even if she doesn’t like it, she’ll stick it through to prove to everyone she can. I absolutely cannot see her working the floor or any outpatient setting, but I can totally see her excelling in the Icu or trauma. Those units require less empathy, and more just constant ‘sh*t hitting the fan keep this guy alive’ skill.” They were less optimistic about Mackenzie. “I think Mack will get too overwhelmed and not make it through school,” they wrote. “There’s more to being a nurse than the pinteresty ‘cute enough to stop your heart, skilled enough to restart it’ crap (ugh barf.) If she got in to nursing school, she’ll quickly figure out its more than hand holding and wiping a feverish brow. And she won’t like it.”
For both girls, this begs the question: is it possible they’re anticipating the end of Teen Mom, or are they planning on leaving before the show even comes to an end?
