On Instagram, Farrah Abraham wrote, “IN LOVING MEMORY OF DEREK UNDERWOOD ,Such A blessed Day 12/28/2009” as she started her post.
“For 11 years I’ve been through a broken heart, depression, Bereavement , and keeping strong for Sophia who so deserves the world [sic],” she wrote of her pain after losing Derek, who she dated in high school and died before Sophia was born.

She revealed that she would later release a full video on YouTube to honor “Daddy Derek.”
“You have touched so many people and are truly special , love and never forgotten.”
“For the teen mom widows, children whom never met their fathers, and moms against drunk driving and those who have lost those they loved[,] thank you for sharing your stories over the years,” she finished her touching tribute.
Of course, because it’s Farrah, people were quick to jump on the word “widow” — which is technically untrue, since they were never married, BUT maybe we could ease up on her a little. Though many have accused Farrah of using Sophia’s father as an attention ploy, it’s nto really fair to tell others how to grieve, even if you disagree with everything else they do.
Fans jumped in a couple of other mistakes in the post – the year of death and such – but considering the dark subject matter, a slip of the tongue might be able to be forgiven in this case, all things considered.
