The Teen Mom cast members have had their fair share of run-ins with the law. From violence to drug possession to straight up teenage rebellion, they’re pretty familiar with the inside of a jail cell. And maybe that’s what made them who they are!

Amber Portwood

When most fans think of Amber Portwood, there are many things that come to mind. Her no-nonsense personality and dedication to what she believes in are bound to be on the list, but her jail time will no doubt come up as well! Amber’s arrests were important to Teen Mom OG since her prison time put a hold on filming!
Amber was first arrested in November 2010. Ironically, Teen Mom is what tipped off law enforcement to her home life! Much of her domestic violence against Gary Shirley was caught on camera, and because Amber’s daughter Leah witnessed the acts, the violence was classified as a felony.
Later, Amber was arrested in December of 2011 when she was caught with pills. This combined with the fact that she failed to complete her GED, take anger management classes or set up a college fund for her daughter contributed to her prison sentence. She ultimately went to prison for a year and a half before being released for good behavior.

Amber isn’t the only one in her family to be arrested. Her baby daddy Gary was, too! In May of 2011, he was busted for having an expired license. He was arrested and released on a $3,000 bond. Ironically, it was an argument with Amber that made the police show up in the first place!
Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra

Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra have both experienced addiction, both personally and in the lives of their loved ones. They were arrested together in May 2009 for marijuana possession exactly a week after they put their first daughter, Carly, up for adoption.
