Not guilty?
Even though Teen Mom is about love, families, children, and happily ever afters, there have been some very dark moments along the way. However, when one Teen Mom cast member was linked to charges of child molestation, it disturbed many fans more than anything that preceded it.
Now, months after the news broke, it has come out that the accused is pleading not guilty to their involvement in this underage scandal.
Dark Update
Chelsea Houska and her family are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her new daughter. It’s an exciting time for the entire DeBoer family, but a good friend of Chelsea has had a much different pregnancy experience.
Chelsea’s friend Britnee Bawek has appeared on the show many times, and recently announced her pregnancy with her husband Alex. It wasn’t long after that Alex was arrested for an attempted sexual encounter with an underage child.
Alex's Arrest
On Dec. 8 2017, he was arrested for “trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl” in Altoona according to the Leader Telegram . He has since been charged with “felony counts of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, child enticement and attempted sexual assault of a child younger than 16.”
What Alex didn’t know is that he was actually talking with an undercover Altoona police officer who was posing as a child. The officer replied to an ad Alex posted saying he was looking to meet someone who “wanted to have some fun.”
At the time of his arrest, Alex admitted he wanted to have sex with the 14-year-old girl, and officers found condoms in his car.
Not Guilty
According to Eau Claire County Court, Alex pled not guilty to the charges on April 30, as reported by Radar Online. The outlet reports that his next court hearing is set for July 11, 2018, and a clerk revealed that “the status conference would be to discuss if the case will go to a jury trial,” according to Radar.
Deactivated
The outlet also reported 28-year-old Alex Bawek’s Craigslist ad, which read:
“Business stud seeking female or select couple… I [am] staying in town for the [night] for work. Have a nice hotel room and would like to have a little warm fun while it’s cold out? No endless emails or games. Again seeking female or couple that likes to have discreet hot fun. Be clean and normal.”
The officer responded, posing as a 14-year-old girl named Arianna. They wrote, “Hey. I like your ad. How r u… I’m 14. Is it ok to talk?” Alex ironically responded, “As long as you’re not the police. Talking is fine.”
Then he sent her a picture of himself and wrote, “Being you’re 14 just makes me nervous. Don’t want to get set up by police. When you finished with class. Want to come to hotel after?” Then wrote, “Well if you want to play with my c**k you’re more than welcome to… You haven’t ever had sex?” He also asked her to send “sexy pics” so he could see her “goods.”
According to Radar, Alex is facing 20 to 40 years in prison for his actions. Both he and Britnee Bawek, who were married in July 2016 and announced their first pregnancy in October, have deactivated their social media accounts.
