But the money is just so good
Nothing lasts forever, especially when it comes to entertainment-based work. People like to see fresh, new faces in reality shows every few years and reality stars like to move on to new ventures to expand their brand. After nearly 10 successful years on air, it feels like Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 will not be in this world too much longer; the ladies are maturing, staying out of drama, getting married, and establishing their families. They don't necessarily want an audience for this new chapter in their lives.
Maci
Maci believes that letting people watch her life struggles will help them not make similar mistakes. She said, "There’s not really a timeframe. I want to be a part of it as long as I feel like it is having a good impact on the audience and my family and things like that. Even if the show went away tomorrow people are still going to know who we are so it’s not like we would be normal again. At least not for a lot of years. Even then, I would say people would still recognize us. [Bentley] handles it fine. People don’t really talk to him about it at school or anything like that."
Catelynn
Catelynn also thinks being honest about her issues will help others, saying, "Personally, I say as long as the show is educating people and still helping people and staying real and honestly, Tyler and I always said we would continue to do it. As soon as it starts going to be scripted or nobody’s just interested, then end it. But every day I get a message on social media about how I’ve helped somebody or inspired somebody to do something… that’s the only reason why we do it."
Farrah
Farrah sees no reason to leave the show because it's successful and educational, saying, "I definitely enjoy the experience and I think 'Teen Mom' has just been a running top show for Viacom, MTV, this network and if it is doing its job then it needs do stay. I’m just such a strong individual that no person whether they were on top of me, living next door to me, circling around me, being on the same show as me. No one makes me do anything that I don’t want to do."
Chelsea
Chelsea's father Randy spilled the beans about how badly she wanted off the show right before she got married. He said, "She’s ready to quit [Teen Mom 2]. I don’t think I’m supposed to say that. If the series ends, she’s fine with it. She’s 24 and she has a house. That’s why she’s stuck with it. She’s doing well, and Aubree’s all set as far as college money."
Amber
After Amber's on-camera blowout with Farrah, she actually decided that she was done with the show for good, writing, "I'll be leaving #teenmomog sadly. The lack of respect is too much anymore! But still sending all my love!"
Afterwards, she decided that it probably wasn't a great idea financially, so she stayed.
Jenelle
Jenelle has been seen doing drugs, getting into fights, and getting arrested on camera; she believed that the producers never showed the positive aspects of her life, which made her want to quit the show. A source close to Jenelle stated, "Jenelle refused to film until they changed the way they were doing things. She told the producers that they capitalize on all her drama and she was sick of it. Jenelle put her foot down. She had a huge fight with the team and told them she is not going to film anything else. She was ready to walk away from the show."
Leah
Leah was so unhappy about MTV's infamous edits that she "refused" to take part in more filming for a while, saying, "It’s so sad how the person behind the editing can even live a happy life by editing to manipulate the audience watching. It makes me feel like my story just isn’t enough. It hurts to feel BETRAYED by the ones I THOUGHT I could trust with my story. It goes to show you how 'THE ENTERTAINMENT WORLD' really is. I hope to continue to share my story but I REFUSE to allow it to be twisted for the benefit of a NETWORK!"
Kailyn
After one particular scene where MTV made it look like Kailyn was pining over her ex-husand Javi, Kailyn said that she was "very hurt and betrayed and is currently on a film strike."
