She's spilling her thoughts!
Some people were just born to have large families, and Chelsea Houska has made it clear from the very beginning that she’s one of them. She’s never been subtle about the importance she places on having a close (and big) family. But at the beginning of Teen Mom 2, there was just one problem with this: her baby daddy was a bit of a flake.
Chelsea’s first baby daddy Adam Lind threw a wrench in her happily ever after from the very beginning. While she and Adam were still young, they constantly fought over Adam’s involvement and financial support of his daughter. Chelsea’s friends, family, and even her fans begged her constantly to leave him and never look back, but because Chelsea wanted to keep her family together, it wasn’t so easy for her.
Luckily, all hope was not lost for Chelsea and her goals. Soon, Cole DeBoer came along and ended her search for a Prince Charming. It wasn’t long before Chelsea’s dream of having a big family was put back on track, and she and Cole had their first son, Watson, together.
Even though she’s still battling with Adam, she’s much closer to her happily ever after than she was at the beginning of Teen Mom 2. But there are still a few missing puzzle pieces that she’s focusing her attention on, and now she’s explaining how her adoption plans may change things up.

Full Plate
Chelsea Houska has a lot on her plate these days. She’s working hard to be a good mom to her children Aubree and Watson, and she’s also pregnant with another little girl who is due in September. Mix in all of the drama from the recent Teen Mom 2 in-fighting between cast members, and it’s a lot for one person to handle.
Luckily, Chelsea has stable friends to show her support. She recently met up with her friend Kailyn Lowry for an episode of Kailyn’s podcast Coffee Convos.
Chelsea and Kailyn had a lot to catch up on, but there’s one thing in particular that Kailyn wanted to hear more about: Chelsea’s decision to change her daughter Aubree’s last name.
Chelsea has been in the midst of changing Aubree’s name for months now, ever since she tied the knot with Cole DeBoer. She’s explained that in an effort to make sure Aubree feels like part of the family, she wanted to change Aubree’s name to Lind-DeBoer. After all, even Chelsea and Aubree have different last names!
After months of court time, Chelsea finally managed to get Adam to agree to changing Aubree’s name… but it wasn’t without Adam putting up a fight.
Chelsea revealed on the season premiere of Teen Mom 2 that Adam’s custody had been drastically reduced. Adam would only be allowed to see his daughter one time a month, and it would have to be at a visitation center. During the series premiere, Chelsea also revealed that she is still battling with Adam over massive amounts of child support.
Getting Worse
“His drug use is out of control,” Chelsea spilled to her friend in the episode. “His depression is getting worse.” She added, “I’d like it to be where his visits need to be at a visitation center, but if she were to go visit his parents, he couldn’t be around. I’m going to talk to my lawyer and see what she thinks.” She also revealed that the entire situation is frightening for her. “It does scare me… He’s getting worse,” she said.
In another scene, she revealed to her father Randy that Adam “Will be willing to agree to the name change if [we] eliminate child support, adjust child support, or take into consideration [Cole’s] income. Obviously he’s fine with doing it, but he’s trying to [get something out of it.] Why would we eliminate child support to hyphenate her last name?” She revealed that Adam wanted to eliminate close to $10,000 of back child support he still owes her in addition to future child support.
On Kailyn’s podcast, she revealed that that’s not the way things went down. Luckily, Adam eventually agreed to the name change.
“Some people are against it… because we left Lind on her last name. But Aubree was so happy. It’s just a nice way to include her, and that’s what our goal was,” Chelsea explains on the podcast.
Kailyn’s co-star Lindsie explains that she was also a child of a blended family, and her step-mother ended up legally adopting her. She explains that the change made her feel more part of the family, leading Kailyn to ask for Chelsea’s thoughts on the matter.
“Is adoption something that you would want to happen?” Kailyn asks. “Or have you guys talked about it?”
It seems that Cole legally adopting Aubree has been on Chelsea’s mind, but she’s not sure how Adam would feel about it. “In a heartbeat, Cole would do it,” she says. “But that’s something that [Adam] would have to allow that to happen or just be completely gone.”
Showing Off?
Chelsea has a lot of venting about Adam to do, and adoption doesn’t seem to be very high on her list. “[Adam’s] having issues, of course, so visitation is supposed to be at a visitation center,” Chelsea explains. “But he has to set it up, which he doesn't. He’s also allowed to have lunch at her school once a week… and he just recently went to his first one.”
“I saw the picture on Snapchat. He had to make sure everyone knew about it as soon as he did it!” Kailyn exclaimed.
“I just think that’s so wrong,” Kailyn’s co-host Lindsie Chrisley says. “If you’re doing it just for the sake of putting it on your social media.”
“Cole has gone to surprise her at lunch,” Chelsea agrees. “But he doesn’t post it because he has nothing to prove. [He’s] doing it to be a parent.”
In fact, it seems that everyone saw this! When Adam shared the picture, one fan even asked Chelsea about it directly.
“Is this supposed to be at a visitation center?” asked Twitter user @TMMamaDrama. “So many questions…” However, Chelsea quickly settled everyone’s concerns.
“The agreement states he’s allowed to attend one school lunch a week if he chooses,” Chelsea cleared up on Twitter, adding, “And to attend events such as concerts etc. I appreciate you guys looking out for me and my girly though.” She also pointed out that this is the first time Adam has gone to a school lunch with his daughter.
Custody Violation
Even though Adam was perfectly within his rights to visit his daughter, some fans just weren’t impressed. “I am not the least bit convinced that this leopard has changed his spots,” wrote reddit user TdubLakeO. “Let's not forget that Adam was arrested less than 6 months ago for assault in a domestic violence context and was also charged with violating a protective order in that situation. Not to mention the 3 dozen other arrests that Adam has under his belt AND the failed p*ss tests for meth.”
They added, “I am literally APPALLED that this man is permitted to go into an elementary school to have lunch with his child. I don't care whether it's Chelsea's child or the child of someone at my kid's school, I don't like the idea that a person with Adam's violent tendencies, recent arrests & drug abuse history can walk into a school and be trusted to be around children.”
But not everyone saw it that way. “You can tell [Aubree] loves her father and it kills Chelsea that she does, I honestly think she coached Aubree into wanting to add to her last name,” accused user wheniwasayoungboy_. “YES ADAM SUCKS but everybody deserves a chance to turn their life around.” User Motthebop agreed, “Why did she have to call out it was his first time? How does putting him down publicly help Aubree?”
But it makes sense that fans were concerned, given that Adam had just been busted blatantly violating his custody agreement!
“Chelsea let his parents have [Aubree] for a couple of hours,” a friend of Chelsea’s spilled to Radar Online after Adam posted a picture of him and Aubree together when they shouldn’t have been. She let them spend time with their granddaughter even though the source says “It wasn’t their time to have her.”
“[Chelsea is] livid and won’t do that anymore,” the source said. “These grandparents haven’t learned a d*mn thing. Can definitely tell where Adam gets the law and rules don’t apply to him attitude!” They added that Chelsea even “emailed her lawyer to find out what her next step should be.”
Adoption Ideas
On Coffee Convos, Kailyn and Lindsie were concerned about how Adam’s behavior was affecting his daughter. Kailyn asks, “Have you explained what’s going on [to Aubree?]”
Chelsea reveals what she tells Aubree. “This is what’s happening: Your dad is sick right now; he’s not making good choices. For that reason, just for your safety, and just to know that everything’s okay, you’re going to have to see him [at the visitation center] if he sets them up… She just adapts to everything so well. She had a couple questions, but she just seemed to understand.”
“She loves Cole!” Kailyn says. “You don’t really know what you’re missing if you never had it.”
Then the girls want the dish about Cole (because who doesn’t?)
“Chelsea, did you play hard to get at first with Cole?” Kailyn wants to know.
“No, Cole’s so shy! We’re both shy,” Chelsea explains. “We just met out one night. The first couple times we hung out was a group setting…. But I knew right away; there was a feeling. I went home and told Chelsy Grace ‘I”m going to marry this guy at the gas station.’”
“And you did!” Kailyn exclaims. “And you’re two babies deep!”
“Cole texted me the other day and said, ‘Can we just have ten kids?’” Chelsea reveals. “We’re going to have ‘The DeBoer Dozen!’”
Lindsie asks Chelsea if she would carry that many more children, but Chelsea says, “At least one more after this.”
Kailyn spills that she has plans of her own when it comes to her next pregnancy. In fact, she’s recently spilled her plans for her fourth pregnancy!
There’s just one little detail: she doesn’t want a baby daddy to be involved.
Still Scary
“More kids, yes,” Kailyn spilled in an interview with Radar Online. “No more baby daddies!”
She explained that she has other plans to get pregnant for the fourth time. “The sperm bank thing would be a different scenario because it wouldn’t be a dad involved.”
As for Chelsea, there’s just one baby daddy on her mind: her husband Cole. But there’s something else that has been bothering her.
"It's inevitable that [my children are] going to see [the show] someday. I think Watson is going to be fine because he's seeing fun, family times. I think Aubree is going to be a little more difficult because she's going to see the relationship with her dad [Adam Lind] and she's going to have a lot of questions about our relationship and her relationship with him," she explained in an interview with E! News. She added, "We've always been open with each other. She is open with me and can talk to me so I just want to keep it that way so for when they do watch it, she feels comfortable and won't have any surprises."
Even though she wants to protect her daughter, she spilled that fans can count on her to keep her stories truthful and honest. "You want to be open and honest because people are going through the same things that we're going through and it does kind of feel nice when other people can relate to it," she spilled. "You want to be open but it's also scary. Even after nine years, it's definitely still scary."
Big Changes
This season, fans can expect to watch the exciting beginnings of Chelsea’s pregnancy. "We do a blood test so I found out [my baby’s gender] when he was working so I got to tell him what the baby was on camera. So that was exciting," she revealed to E!. "I know people always say their husbands are great or whatever but I think mine is the best. He's patient. He works all day and still comes home and helps me with what I need. He makes sure to get time in with the kids before bed. He's just a good guy all around."
She also shared that her fellow Teen Mom 2 stars have been nothing but supportive for her third pregnancy. "We have been close from the beginning. Maci Bookout is always nice. All of the girls are nice but I'd say I talk with Kailyn and [Leah Messer] the most," she said. "They've been supportive. We've formed our little group chat."
And of course someone else is being supportive: little Aubree!
“Aubree is super excited,” Chelsea shared. “She wanted a girl this time so she is excited and she is so much help. But Watson, he has no idea. We told Aubree right away this time and she knew that we wanted another baby soon so she was surprised but she was just so happy." She even said she’s having her “easiest pregnancy out of the three!”
There’s just one thing Chelsea refuses to share with fans: the name that she and Cole selected for their first daughter together. But many fans believe she may have accidentally revealed her daughter’s name during a recent update!
Name Game
“Ok but did @ChelseaHouska say Quinny in her instagram story on the way to the 4D ultrasound?! Is she naming her baby girl Quinn???” wrote Twitter user @blissfull_daze. “I NEED TO KNOW ANSWERS.”
Chelsea responded, “Whaaaa? Nope! lol i think you’re referring to what Cole said and he said ‘sweetie’ in a weird voice.’”
Another fan, Twitter user @KaitlynBabb, wrote, “I thought he said ‘twitty’ like Conway twitty? Lol.” Chelsea clarified, “I think he said ‘tweetie’ to be specific Hahahaha.”
Either way, fans love the name Quinn! “It would be a seriously adorable name,” wrote in Twitter user @jflo8675309. “Quinn Deboer just has a ring to it.”
Chelsea responded, “It’s a cute name! But we already have a name set for our little punkin!”
Luckily, there are even more hints that Chelsea dropped about the name game.
One fan recently asked, “Is your baby girl’s name gonna have an -ee name like Aubree?” Chelsea replied, “Nope!”
“If Aubree hadn’t been named Aubree, what would you have named her?” another fan wanted to know. Chelsea replied, “I was JUST telling Aubree the other day the names I considered for her haha. I think it was Payton and Brynn.” So it’s possible that one of these names is the one Chelsea is going to use!
