This generation of Teen Mom cast members has learned the hard way that every single thing they post on the Internet has a way of coming back to haunt them. No matter how quickly Instagram updates, tweets, or Facebook statuses are deleted, there are always at least a dozen screenshots that have already been posted all across the Internet.
Since the cast started filming when both they and the internet itself was young, there’s been quite a bit of a learning curve and culture shift for the girls and the fans. Over time, many of them have had some pretty offensive, ignorant and racist scandals surface, and it’s definitely changed the way they’re viewed by fans.
Now, another Teen Mom star’s comments have been put on blast, and it has many fans confused about how to feel.
In the history of offensive comments from Teen Mom stars, some incidents come across as much worse than others. Most recently, Teen Mom OG star Cheyenne Floyd made waves after MTV confirmed she’d be the newest member of the cast.
After the announcement, some of her past tweets came to light that had fans shocked.
“This little white kid told me I looked like a cat today. I shoulda kicked him,” reads one of Cheyenne’s tweets from 2012 that circulated at the time she was hired. One from 2011 reads, “My mom said I can’t see The Help, she knows I already have a problem with white people.”
These tweets are upsetting to many, but they’re nothing compared to the last one: “Last night I saw it and I wanted to kill every white person I saw.”
She also retweeted a tweet that read “[Cheyenne] and [another Twitter user] are the only nazi-loving, black power-having, ‘kill-a-white-baby-if-I-could’ people I can accept & adore.”
Obviously, these tweets are several years old, and Cheyenne has had a lot of time to change since then… but fans are pretty angry that MTV decided to hire her regardless.
“You cannot say sh*t like this and then become a paid TV personality and expect it to be okay. Sh*t on the internet does not go away. You f*cked up. I hope MTV would not offer a job to anyone that said something like this towards any group of people. The end,” wrote reddit user Floflo80.
User silver_kays wrote, “If people online easily found this you’d think whoever does the research for hiring would see it too. Media loves feeding the racism fire. It’s a ‘hot topic’ in their eyes and it makes me sick.”
This time around, it’s another new member of the Teen Mom cast that’s coming under fire: Young and Pregnant star Ashley Jones.
The tweets started when Ashley retweeted an Instagram post about Dwayne Wade accepting his trans daughter’s decision to change her name and use female pronouns. “Me and my wife Gabrielle Union are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community,” the update read.
Another Twitter user added the transphobic comment, “Stop ‘supporting’ the problem and get that boy some help.’”
Ashley had some thoughts on this. She spoke out in defense of Dwayne Wade’s daughter, saying, “This is such a touchy topic . I think each person deals with this based on their own upbringing and personal beliefs . If this is how the parents want to support their child then we really cannot and should not say anything.”
But her next Tweet was a bit confusing to some fans. “Can’t offend the LGBTQ, can’t offend the blacks , can’t offend the whites , can’t offend the Mexicans , can’t offended the Asians . Just leave people the f*ck alone . And also , everything isn’t always that d*mn deep and serious,” she wrote.
But some fans think Ashley’s tweet was ignorant.
“The Mexicans ? There’s a whole a** South America and Puerto Rican’s / Cubans / Dominicans that are Hispanics so please educate yourself,” wrote in user @loramendoza9 on Twitter.
Ashley replied, “so you offended because I said Mexicans ? What are you even talking about,” and added numerous laughing emojis.
Twitter user @sidcynthia wrote, “Because the word you were looking for was ‘hispanics.’”
Ashley replied and added, “No, I meant Mexicans!”
She went on, “Since when was it a crime to say Mexicans ? If you are from Puerto Rico then ofc I’m not talking about you . If you are Salvadoran than exclude yourself . But there are PROUD MEXICANS walking this earth . So relax . I wasn’t grouping everyone together I was speaking particularly.”
Obviously, Ashley’s comments may come off as a little ignorant to some, but they don’t seem to be near the category of “racist.” And considering this all comes from her apparently standing up against transphobia, its seems that it comes from a good place.
Then again.... It’s for fans to decide how to respond. What do you think? We’d like to hear from you in the comments!

Leah Messer Claps Back After Being Accused of Racial Prejudice
When your entire life is on display from the time you turn 16 years old, there are bound to be some less than savory things on your record. The cast of Teen Mom has had some of their most embarrassing and inappropriate moments immortalized on national television and across social media.
Unfortunately, this includes a lot of offensive language, rhetoric, and images shared by the moms. Luckily, it seems that they’ve mostly grown out of this behavior… but now, Leah Messer is facing accusations of racism.
To understand these accusations of racism, it’s important to go back in time a little bit to the reveal that Leah Messer’s sister, Victoria Messer, was pregnant.
Victoria opened up about her scandalous pregnancy during the Teen Mom 2 reunion.
She recently got pregnant with a fling that she met during a vacation to Costa Rica!
During the Teen Mom 2 reunion, Victoria and Leah sat down with Dr. Drew and Nessa to spill about the situation. They revealed that Leah will be sponsoring Victoria’s baby daddy so that he can immigrate to the United States and be with Victoria!
Then Nessa asks the question we’ve all been wondering: “What happened to using protection?!”
After some giggles, Victoria reveals, “He had told me that he asked me about using a condom and I told him no. But I don’t remember that first time, so I guess it would be my fault.”
But then we learned the scandal of her baby daddy, Royer’s past!
“Does Royer have other children?” Dr. Drew asked during the reunion.
“Yes,” Victoria spilled, “He has two sons.”
“With the same person?” Dr. Drew asked.
“No,” Victoria admits. “They are different.” She spills that neither of the mothers are American. “He doesn’t really communicate with the moms,” she says. “His sons are old enough that he just communicates directly to them.”
Dr. Drew points out, “I’m wondering here if there’s not some more intention with this!”
This panned out to be a huge scandal among fans who were shocked that Royer is leaving his two children in Costa Rica to live with Victoria! His willingness to leave his sons doesn’t seem to bode well for his future with his third child.
Just this week, Victoria’s beautiful baby boy was born! And Leah was quick to share the news across social media.
“Caí River Rodríguez Messer. 01/20/2020 10:43am. You share your bday celebrating a legend #MartinLutherKingDay. So proud of your mamá and papí. #blessing #blessed,” Leah wrote.
Aside from the rumor that Leah was assuming MLK was born on MLK day (which is not the case; he was born on January 15), fans locked on to Leahs’ sprinkling of Spanish words. She also captioned the birth shots “#titi” and “#tía,” the affectionate terms for “aunt” in Spanish. Some people believe this is her overcompensating.
“Leah is trying so hard to prove that she isn’t racist and she just sounds f*cking ignorant,” wrote user jackiehennedy on reddit.
User CrazyChaoticCat agreed, “Enough already, shes trying so hard to come off as anti-racist that she actually sounds super racist. The accent marks over all her vowels is so fucking cringey as well.” User TheOtherMansSk1n wrote, “I know im always banging on about racism and cultural appropriation, but it's so inappropriate and trashy. A bunch of hicks thinking that now they have a coloured baby, they're woke and strong.”
It wasn’t long before Leah caught wind of the accusations and took to Twitter to clear things up.
“I guess learning español to speak fluently with my nephew is something to mock,” Leah wrote. “Mannnn, Why do so many of you spend your time hating others on social media? You could be much more productive and uplifting. How does this genuinely make you happy? #idontgetit.”
But unfortunately, this just landed Leah in more trouble.
“She knows that he doesn't just come out speaking Spanish, right?” wrote user MQHD wrote. User CoachKnope agreed, “I think she believes because he’s half Latino he will know Spanish. Like the baby is programmed.”
But some stood up for Leah, including user TimelessMeow, who penned,
“I'm actually shocked by all the hate here for this? She comes from a highly racist area, I'm surprised and pleased that she's bothering to learn instead of screaming SPEAK ENGLISH at the baby or something. She's at least considering his heritage. Hell, Kail married Javi and had Lincoln and I don't think she ever bothered to learn Spanish, did she? It's hard for an adult to learn a second language, so do I think she'll become fluent? Maybe not. But she's willing to try, so why beat her down for it?”
