Even though Teen Mom has served up some of the funniest and most heartwarming scenes of any reality show, it also captures some of the darkest moments of the stars’ lives.

Teen Mom star Bariki “Bar” Smith has more than enough on his plate right now. In addition to his getting engaged to his baby mama Ashley Jones, he’s been strugglign with the conviction of his brother who was linked to a murder. Now, it’s clear that this isn’t the end of the family’s struggles: news just broke that his sister was shot.
Bar’s controversial mother, Shen, reported on the incident via Facebook: “God i got a call One of the kids i raised was shot last night ugh i hate being this far bit momma is coming baby,” she wrote. “She is okay tjank god . i wish theu would al get the hell out of there and come to live out here this is gonna be one of them days smh.”
Ironically, when Shen initially called Bar to reveal the news to him, he didn’t pick up because of the growing tension between them. “Someone tell my hard headed son it’s an emergency call,” Shen wrote, saying that Bar’s “phone is off.”
Shen shared more news with fans, writing, “One of the girls I raised was shot last night — three times.” Mercifully, she survived. “But she’s OK,” Shen wrote. “I talked to her this morning and she’s doing good.”
Local paper East Bay Times reported on a shooting at the same time, which is likely the same incident. The shooting took place at 8:51PM on June 22 in the 2000 block of 80th Avenue in East Oakland.
According to the report, Shen’s daughter “told police she was walking when she heard gunshots and saw that she had been wounded.”
The outlet reports: “Police don’t have a motive yet for the shooting and are trying to determine if the woman was the intended target or was hit by a random shot. No arrests have been made. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.”
As Starcasm reports, it should be clarified that although Shen calls the victim her daughter, the woman is not biologically relate to Shen. Shen had five children, but says that she raised 47 children in total! Starcasm points out, “And she did that in a VERY difficult environment with gang violence, drug dealers, and more all around.”
Facebook group Teen Mom Mama Drama later gave an update about the event. “Teen Mom Mama Drama can confirm that Bariki’s sister J Weez was shot,” the group reads. “J Weez was apparently walking when gun shots were fired. She was wounded and taken to a local hospital. The police are still investigating the situation.”
J Weez also posted videos from an event she attended at San Leandro Marina that same day, which came to a shocking end when someone fired a gun into the air, causing the crowd to panic. The event took place three hours before J Weez’s own shooting. Check out the video above.
