Last week, news broke that Nathan Griffith was arrested for a DUI in North Carolina, but now he is claiming that cops had no right to arrest him! You can see his explanation video below.
The Teen Mom star has had his fair share of legal troubles in the past, and a DUI is never a great look. Back in 2016, he was he was arrested for domestic violence against his ex, Jessica Henry. He was arrested again in February 2018 for hitting fixtures while driving on a highway. His girlfriend told Radar Online , “Nathan ran out to get an energy drink alone. He was arrested for pulling away from a gas pump with the pump still in his truck’s tank. It was an accident.”
A motion was filed to reopen the case on June 1, 2018. A clerk told Radar that prosecutors sought to work out a deal before it goes to trial. A pre-trial conference was not scheduled until January of this year.
This time around, Radar Online and TMZ reported Nathan was arrested on the evening of Thursday, October 17 in Cary, North Carolina. He was arrested outside a grocery store for “driving while impaired.”
He posted a $10,000 bond, and has already been released. His court date is set for next month.
Nathan currently lives in South Carolina, so there is no explanation as to why he was arrested in North Carolina.
But now, in an exclusive video he sent to TMZ, Nathan claims his arrest was unjustified.
He claims he was not driving his vehicle when he was stopped by the police. He told the outlet that his keys were locked inside of his car, and he was walking to meet his friends when they found him.
Nathan said he was about 5 minutes away from his car, and the cops had to escort him back to his vehicle. That’s where they decided to do a field sobriety test and arrest him for driving under the influence.
Overall, he claims he should at the least be charged with public intoxication.
Nathan doesn’t have the best of luck when it comes to legal matters. Back in 2017, his mother Doris Davidson took Jenelle to court to attempt to claim custody of her grandson. She filed an emergency request for full custody of Kaiser.
In court documents obtained by Radar Online, Doris leveled some major accusations. In the filing, Doris claims that she has a “warm, close, and loving relationship” with Kaiser, and that “the close relationship has been severely jeopardized with [his parent]’s constant threats, belittling, and name calling.”
As of lately, Nathan has discussed suing for custody again after his ex, Jenelle Evans, had issues with CPS over the summer.
When Jenelle regained custody of her children, Nathan decided he should try and sue her for full custody of their son. That didn’t go so well, and even Nathan’s sister was supportive of Jenelle keeping her children.
The Hollywood Life spoke with Nathan’s sister, Heather Griffith, to get her inside scoop on the story.
“I think a lot of things have been exaggerated and blown out of proportion,” she said. “I don’t see Jenelle as an unfit parent or someone that doesn’t love her kids.”
Jenelle regained custody of her children on July 4, but Nathan claimed he hired a lawyer before the CPS ordeal began. That all may be going by the wayside though, since Nathan’s latest issues.
