They're at it again!
Sometimes, spending time in prison is enough to make people reassess their lives. The reality of what they’ve done sinks in, and when they’re finally freed, they set out on a completely different path. But the effect isn’t the same for everyone, and for some members of the Teen Mom cast, prison cells seem to be a second home.
This Teen Mom star has been arrested multiple times in the past year alone. Now, fans are beginning to worry about the path they’ve taken just months after having a baby.
Jenelle's Past
Jenelle Evans has had her fair share of worrisome exes, but Courtland Rogers isn’t well known by all of her fans. That’s because unlike her other exes, Courtland never appeared on the show! There are many explanations for this, but some fans believe MTV chose to keep him off the air because of his criminal tendencies and the state of Jenelle’s life while they were together.
Repeat Offender
Jenelle is now happily married to David Eason, but it’s clear that Courtland hasn’t changed from his old ways. After being arrested for the second time this year on April 10, Courtland was busted for possession and intent to sell and deliver a schedule III substance. He was listed as a “habitual felon,” and according to In Touch Weekly, this means he could be doing some serious jail time.
Bad Timing
There’s never a good time to be in prison, but the timing of Courtland’s bust is particularly hard since he just became a father again. He and his wife welcomed their son Camryn earlier this month! On top of that, Courtland recently reported that he was done using drugs. "So NOW with 2 and a half years of sobriety & preparing for my son's birth I am focused on my family because in the end... that’s ALL THAT MATTERS," he tweeted in December.
Dark Past
According to Jenelle, Courtland is guilty of much more than drug possession. In her memoir, Read Between The Lines: Diary of a Teenage Mom, Jenelle spills that there was a point in her life when she was with Courtland and they were both involved with drugs. During this time, she writes, she went through a relapse and two pregnancies.
At the time that she reconnected with Courtland, she asked him for marijuana to help her withdrawals from heroin, but he simply brought her heroin instead.
“It was a hard relapse,” she writes. “I took more than I did before. Courtland was not only taking heroin, he started dealing it.” Courtland’s addiction led to behaviors that Jenelle writes resulted in her miscarriage.
After Jenelle became pregnant, she stopped using heroin because she didn’t want to “poison” the baby, but Courtland didn’t stop using.
“He also became very verbally abusive,” she writes in her memoir. “His favorite thing to do during arguments was tell me that our child wasn’t his because I was a whore.”
According to Jenelle, the verbal abuse soon escalated into physical abuse when he found out she was talking to another man.
“Courtland slapped me around a few times, then started punching me in the gut,” she shares in the heartbreaking memoir.
She says that she called a friend, who called the police, but when they came, she sent them away to prevent MTV from finding out about her relapse. The damage had already been done though.
“I packed a bag and went to spend the night with my mother,” she writes in her memoir. “I woke the next morning to a pool of blood between my legs. My mother rushed me to the emergency room, where they explained to me that I had suffered a miscarriage due to my recent altercation with Courtland.”
