When it comes to showing the truth of the difficulties of unexpected teenage pregnancies, MTV hasn’t shied away. It’s aired some pretty dark moments from the girls as they struggled to go through their pregnancies, and even considered alternatives like adoptions and abortions. Once they gave birth, MTV also didn’t flinch when it came to filming just how hard it was to be a young mother with minimal support.
However, it’s not just the trials of pregnancy that the show reveals. It’s also the difficulties that some girls have been strapped with just because they happened to be born with certain family members, date certain people, or have certain physical and mental complications.
In fact, some fans have recently complained that MTV is no longer showing the true experience that most teenage mothers have. After all, the Teen Mom cast makes some serious money, and they’re not exactly a good representation of what the average teenage mother looks like. (Not to mention the fact that they’re not even teenagers anymore!)
So it’s no wonder that MTV decided to debut a new Teen Mom spinoff, Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. The new show features younger girls with smaller paychecks and some serious Z-list struggles.
One of the most recent additions to the cast is Rachel Beaver, who, as it turns out, comes with a whole slew of baggage. Recently, it came out that an arrest warrant had been issued for her mother!
Court papers from Cobb County Court obtained by Radar reveal that the Human Resources Department sued Stephanie for the recovery of child support for her three children in 2008.
According to the legal claim, Stephanie “failed, neglected or refused to provide adequate and timely support for said minor children.” Radar reports that she also failed to provide accident and sickness coverage for her three daughters, Malorie, Carter, and Rachel herself.
Because Rachel’s mother failed to appear in court, she was ordered to pay $350.16 per month. However, she apparently couldn’t make these payments as by 2009 she “willfully failed and refused to comply with said order,” and owed a total of $3,612.29.
In 2011, the case was dismissed by the Plaintiff because they were “unable to locate the defendant.”
In 2013, a Complaint of Contempt was filed against Rachel’s mom, as she owed a whopping $17,495.73 in child support. Later that year, an order was issued for her arrest. Radar reports that the arrest was likely never made.
In 2016, Stephanie owed $21,384.16. She filed a motion to dismiss which claimed that the Petitioner “has failed in material respects to comply with the rule and such requires the dismissal of the Petition,” according to Radar.
The claim continued, “The respondent cannot properly assess possible defenses or other responsive pleadings until such time as the Petition is properly filed and served upon her.”
“She does not deny being in arrears with the State of Georgia as of the entry of the Order setting the same at $6,305.54 and would show the Court that she has been paying on the same regularly and but for the lack of information being made available by Georgia DCS to date may have satisfied the bulk of that arrearage,” the filed answer to Petition for Registration of Foreign Judgment from Stephanie reads.
She agreed to pay $50 a month to settle her past child support debts.
In the premiere of Young and Pregnant, Rachel revealed that it’s not just money problems her mother has; Stephanie has also battled with addiction. Now, more details are coming out on this front as well.
Another incident report revealed by Radar Online revealed that Stephanie and “a man” were arrested for drug possession and stealing a car in April of 2012!
The officer who made the report noted that he spotted a damaged car that “paid unusually close attention” to the officer while driving past. The officer then checked the car’s tag and saw that it was stolen. Rachel’s mother later denied that she knew the car was stolen.
In the stolen car, the officer found a digital scale and a paper with the following writing: “30 perc 10’s for $180, 30 Somas for $60, 4 Bars for $20, 2R’s for $40 = $300,” which apparently was prices for pills.
Officers also found blood sugar treatment products, a hypodermic needle, a spoon with “residue,” and “various injection-related items,” according to Radar.
According to the site, the police report read:
“The items containing suspicious residue, which I suspected to be Methamphetamine were submitted for testing … Also, a single Promethazine pill in a small baggie was found in the backpack when I was processing the evidence. Other suspicious items not seized were a camouflage mask, a bag containing an old penny and .380 ammunition.”
After the officer read Stephanie her Miranda rights, she “did admit to using Methamphetamine ‘this morning.’”
Stephanie was charged with one count of theft by receiving stolen property, one count of violation of unlawfully possessing and having under her control a controlled substance, Oxycodone, and a final count of unlawfully possessing and having under her control a controlled substance, Methamphetamine,” according to Radar.
She went on to accept a guilty plea and was sentenced to four years’ probation. Later, because she didn’t complete her 24 hours of community service and failed to pay a $175 fine, she was ordered to 15 days in confinement.
And when it comes to raising her child, that’s far from the only issue Rachel has had. She also revealed she’s not sure who her baby daddy is.
“I’m Rachel,” she spilled in the preview for the new season, which debuts on October 22nd. “I’m eight months pregnant.”
She went on, “This is Drew, my ex and my baby’s father… At least, that’s what I think! Because I’ve been on and off with him and his best friend Jacob, Drew isn’t convinced that the baby is his, and hasn’t even been there for me at all.”
And, since it’s Teen Mom, of course it’s a little more complicated than that. Rachel spills: “When I first found out I was pregnant, I had hoped Jacob was the father.” In a conversation with her friend, Rachel reveals, “We thought she could have been Jacob’s because they kept changing my conception date and all that… [I told Jacob] I’m sorry I even led you on to think you had a possibility, but she’s not yours.”
She adds, “Jacob can’t stand the fact that I’m having a kid with his best friend, and he just doesn’t want to get attached. He’s had me blocked for almost a month now, and I don’t think he’s coming back.”
Rachel also reveals that she doesn’t have high hopes for Drew, who she thinks is her child’s father.
“I hope that when the baby is born, Drew will step up. But it’s not looking good.”
