When Jenelle Evans found true love with David Eason, it wasn’t long before they made plans to move in together. But buying a home wasn’t enough for them. Instead, they decided to purchase North Carolina property, now known in the fanbase as “The Land,” and build a home of their own. Although they’ve had difficulties with their home literally sinking into the ground beneat hthem, it’s clear that Jenelle is loving the privacy and independence of her life on the land.
However, it also presents some complications that the Jenelle and David might not have seen coming from the beginning. Although it provided a built-in venue for their wedding, it has also required maintenance and upkeep that can be quite demanding. But recently, fans have also started to worry about her children's’ safety while on The Land, and these pictures don’t help.
Jenelle recently shared a number of photos of her in-ground pool since she moved in 2017. It seems that in all of the photos, there is no fencing or barrier around the pool. In some shots, her children are standing by the pool although there’s clearly nothing to prevent them from falling in.
Fans have begun to call Jenelle out for this. “Ya’ll need a fence around the pool before a child drowns,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “I’m pretty sure where [Jenelle] lives too it’s by law that you have to have a fence around your pool.”
Recently, a spokesperson for the North Carolina Building Codes department confirmed with Radar Online that Jenelle is indeed breaking the law by not fencing her pool in. They revealed that “it is the law to have a barrier around an in-ground pool.”
“An outdoor swimming pool, including an in-ground, above-ground or on-ground pool, hot tub or spa, shall be surrounded by a barrier which shall comply with the following: 1. The top of he barrier shall be at least 48 inches above grade measured on the side of the barrier, which faces away from the swimming pool.” The code reads. They continue, “The maximum vertical clearance between grade and the bottom of the barrier shall be 2 inches or 4 inches where concrete or fixed solid material is used measured on the side of the barrier which faces away from the swimming pool. Where the top of the pool structure is above grade, such as an above-ground pool, the barrier may be at ground level, such as the pool structure, or mounted on top of the pool structure. Where the barrier is mounted on top of the pool structure, the maximum vertical clearance between the top of the pool structure and the bottom of the barrier shall be 4 inches.”
In September 2017 soon after Jenelle installed the pool, a fan asked if she was planning on getting a fence. Jenelle responded, “Of course, a pull lock like at public pools,” she replied. “To get your permit approved for your pool you have to get a fence, also to protect wildlife.”
Looks like Jenelle needs to put her money where her mouth is!
