She's not happy.
Kailyn Lowry has just given birth to a healthy baby boy. Even though this is a time of great excitement and joy in her life, it doesn't mean that all of her problems are coming to an end.
Even though we may feel that we know all of the Teen Mom stars, it can be jolting to realize that everything we know about them is filtered through what MTV chooses to include during editing. And lately, the girls have been less than thrilled with the finished product.
Kailyn has spoken out before about this, but now she's said that being on Teen Mom may have even ruined her life.
A Long Road
Being a reality TV star is a difficulty that only very few people on Earth can understand. Having huge, life-changing events edited down into neat, short episodes is bound to leave huge amounts of important things out.
Kailyn is familiar with this experience, having starred on 16 and Pregnant before making the move to Teen Mom 2. She's been on TV for years and experienced some huge, lifechanging events surrounded by cameras. She's had to watch some events portrayed differently than they've actually happened, but now she's saying that this experience may have "ruined" her life.
"Get Out"
Not for the first time, Kailyn has spoken out on Twitter about what she thinks are signs that MTV is editing footage of her life in a way that's misleading. Lately, she's been speaking out more and more about changes that they've made in the editing room, or even producers trying to influence the events as they happen.
On Twitter, she wrote about an event that happened in an episode that aired recently. She said, "The whole purpose of me telling jo was so jo could take Isaac to see Javi during that time but they cut that part out," with an eye rolling emoji.
A fan replied, writing, "Feel like this show has damaged [Kailyn] and [Javi] so immensely. Get out. It's literally ruined 5 precious lives."
Kailyn replied to the fan and Javi, saying, "I can definitely agree with this to a certain extent."
#RealityTVprobs
This isn't the first time that Kailyn and her co-stars have spoken out about their experiences watching MTV's editing change real events. Recently, Chelsea Houska took to Twitter to write, “Just a little something that irked me about the show tonight. Theres a part where I say ‘I feel like it’s taking away from Cole’s experience’… And that was taken out of context from a different convo and added in that scene for some reason," adding "#RealityTVprobs."
Kailyn replied to the tweet, writing, “They did they several times on tonight’s episodes. And provoked the scene with Isaac crying at dinner!!! And I lost my mind!!!”
Fans React
That said, not all of the fans on Reddit are so convinced that MTV played that big of a role in "ruining" Kailyn and Javi's lives.
User StasRutt wrote, "The thing is, even without MTV they would have had a messy marriage and divorce because they are so poorly matched as a couple. The only difference would've been the money involved."
User 3zahsselhtiaf agreed and wrote, "Does it help that all their friends on both sides did nothing but stirred the f**king pot? I didn't see anyone step back other than Jo and Vee to try and say guys come on for the kids at least make it somewhat okay. Sterling and Peach can go fly a f**king kite."
But user ubehuda sided with her, writing, "I agree with her. Just think about it. Before the show got big she was working 2 or 3 jobs and going to school full time. If MTV hasn't blown up like it had she probably would've continued school. I doubt Javi would've tried so hard to date her because she would've have been on the show so she probably wouldn't have married him and had another kid. So already, she would've finished school sooner, probably in Philly, and she'd be working a regular job and supporting her child as best she could. The show absolutely went to her head. Hers and the rest of the girls. Her life would be so different without MTV."
Escalating
With Kailyn calling out MTV more and more, only time will tell whether it'll get so bad that she won't come back next season.
