When you become a mother at a young age, you’re bound to mess up here and there. The Teen Mom cast has had its fair share of blunders and mistakes when it comes to raising their children, but sometimes it gets more serious than just some funny slip-ups.
Kailyn Lowry has always marched to the beat of her own drum, but now she’s being accused of something a little more serious than unconventional parenting. Fans are saying she’s putting her children’s lives at risk.
Every mother has her own parenting style, and even though some opinions might be unpopular, generally it’s up to the mother to make the call. That is, unless she’s putting her child at risk. Well, that’s exactly what fans are accusing Kailyn Lowry of doing.
These accusations have developed after Kailyn made it abundantly clear that she was against vaccinating children.
When Kailyn first had Isaac and Lincoln, she made an incredibly controversial decision to not vaccinate her children. Shortly after Lincoln’s birth, Kailyn opened up about her decision. “We aren’t vaccinating,” she tweeted, adding that her children could still attend school if they “fill out a specific form.”
Soon after the birth of her third child, Lux, Kailyn doubled down on her anti-vaxxing ways, and confirmed as of Lux turning 18 months that he was not vaccinated.
Kailyn later took to her podcast, Coffee Convos, to clarify her choice:
“I definitely think this is a controversial topic, and I don’t want to lose listeners because of my opinion — but, I did vaccinate Isaac, because to me, I didn’t know any better, and I gave — I let them vaccinate him with whatever they basically said that he needed. And I feel like I was ignorant, and didn’t do research, and didn’t know any better.
With Lincoln, I knew a little bit more, and I started to research more, and that’s when I think the conversations of vaccines started to really be going on with me and my friends that became moms. And there were documentaries on Netflix, and all kinds of, just, news that I would try to look into. Lincoln did not get all of his vaccines. I definitely picked and chose which ones I felt like were necessary, and he did not get them all at once. So, he did one or two vaccines at a time. And again, those were the ones that I felt that he needed.
Lux is 18 months and he is not vaccinated. He hasn’t ever really been sick, and for me, I just think the more research that I do, and the more educated I’ve become, I just don’t vaccinate him. So, that’s my opinion, and I don’t judge Lindsey if she chooses to vaccinate, or anyone else who chooses to vaccinate — that’s your prerogative. You’re a parent, you know what’s best for your child, and I’m not here to judge.”
On the show, Kailyn even revealed she refuses to even let her ex-husband Javi give their son Lincoln a flu vaccine. She said, “[Javi] texted me asking me how I felt about Lincoln getting a flu shot, because I guess he told me that Lauren is a big believer in vaccines. So, I said ‘Whatever you guys choose to do with your son is fine, but my son’s not getting the flu vaccine.’”
Kail recently stirred up this discussion among her fans yet again by sharing anti-vax rhetoric on her Instagram story.
“Aluminium safe limit set by FDA: 25MCG. Vaccine delivery of aluminium by 18 months: 4,925MCG. How is this safe?”
Fans on reddit were quick to sound off about her post.
“It took me two seconds to look that up and realize that is false,” wrote user cancancan1345 on reddit. User LivingAtAltitude wrote, “Thats her choice for her kids, albeit a dumb one, but she should NOT be taking them on planes, to school or anywhere other children are.
Sick children can DIE from being exposed to other carrying those diseases. Chemotherapy for a child is NOT a choice and those are the kids Kail is putting at risk because of her stupid choices. You want your kid to get sick, fine...but don't endanger others....keep your kid at home.” They added, “Her ignorance is unbelievable. Fill yourself with fillers but don't vaccinate your kid🙄”
User WittyCylinder wrote, “Everytime I think Kail isn’t that bad or I want to defend her from over the top hate, I remember she’s anti-vax and then I don’t give a f*ck anymore.”
Some also pointed out that Kailyn seems particularly concerned about the content of vaccines even though she may be exposed to chemicals by way of fillers and tattoos.
“Meanwhile she’s walking around with a face full of fillers,” wrote Bee_Burden. User adarunti wrote, “Tell that to the heavy metals in your tattoo ink, Kail.” User KelseyAnn94 even chimed in, “This b*tch wants to talk about safety when she f*cking texts and drives.”
