Jenelle Evans has a bit of a rocky history when it comes to self-medicating, but in recent years, she’s significantly cleaned up her act. … At least, that’s how it seems! Now fans are wondering if this new image reveals she’s not so clean.
Over the years, the tone of Teen Mom has shifted quite a bit. What started as a docu-series that followed the lives of eight girls as they struggled with the ramifications and joys of a teenage pregnancy has quickly shifted into something else. As the cast members became more and more famous, the drama of their love lives, wealth, and fan interaction became more prominent.

It’s no surprise that the cast themselves have changed a lot with their newfound fame. Many fans believe that this fame and attention may have gone to some of the cast members’ heads, while others use their reach for different causes or advertising.
But many of them have also become much more private about their lives as their fame continues to grow. Some members of the cast have realized that some elements or choices in their lives aren’t particularly popular among fans, and have decided to keep things off of the show. In fact, fans have become increasingly frustrated with stars like Kailyn Lowry who have started more and more to refuse filming about any topics they don’t like.
Of course, there are still the cast members who seem to forget that they’re ever on camera.
Jenelle Evans has had a lot of secrets come to light in some less than ideal ways over the years. In fact, she’s kind of the queen of letting things slip in all the wrong ways.
Case in point: Jenelle and David did their very best to keep news of their pregnancy off the air for as long as possible. Even though they filmed some scenes that seemed to heavily hint that they were pregnant with their first child together, they insisted to fans and producers alike that they weren’t having another baby. It wasn’t until Jenelle and David were in a minor car accident that their hospital records revealed Jenelle’s pregnancy… and leaked it to the media.
You would think that Jenelle’s experience trying to prevent fans from discovering major life events would make her become more aware of what parts of her life are being caught on camera… but after this shocking image surfaced, it’s clear that this isn’t the case.
“Anyone else notice the HORDE of prescription drugs sitting out on [Jenelle and David]’s counter?” wrote reddit user Signature_wehr, attaching a screen cap of the most recent episode of Teen Mom 2. Behind Jenelle, there appear to be about a dozen prescription bottles on her counter.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with using medication as needed, and with a family of seven, it’s no shock that Jenelle and David may have several medications for themselves and their children. However, given Jenelle’s history with addiction, fans were quick to think the worst of the picture.
“i’m so compelled by jenelle’s sinking house situation, i [100%] believe she is under enormous stress and is coping with whatever she can,” wrote reddit user lavendersnail. “i feel scared for the kids, but we have no footage of jenelle nodding out (leah style) and until we do, maybe the drugs that are there are necessary and not being abused.” User castlesandcrumpets theorized, “Benzos for everyone!”
User youmaybetheproblem wrote, “I will never understand why two seemingly healthy young adults need to take so many meds.” User saskacat even wrote, “She looks methed out. That's a lotta pills.”
But for every fan who found this alarming, there were several who saw it as no big deal at all.
“Part of Nathan's mother's emergency custody paperwork stated Kai has recurring sinus infections. Even if only three of the five of them have serious allergy issues this doesn't seem like a lot. They are surrounded by tons of pollen and ragweed. Additionally, Janelle's anxiety, David's thyroid, vitamins... I have three scripts in my cabinet just for all our vitamin D yo get us thru the sh*tty, gray Cleveland winters. So, for someone who doesn't take prescriptions, this could seem like a lot, but for a family of five, it does not seem like a lot to me,” wrote user clevelandcray. User DictaSupreme agreed, “Guys, isn’t it well known David has a health issue? Also there are quite a few people living there so this isn’t really out of the norm for a big family, with at least one person with health issues. Also it’s not like we know all of their medical histories.”
User _Ninnie agreed, “So I take 4-5 prescriptions a day. My husband takes 3. My kid takes 1. They’re all on auto refill, so they fill 7-10 days before we run out. So sometimes we have twice as many bottles. So that might be a bit of an explanation.” User WinterBackbone added the caveat, “I take a slew of meds, otc and rx, for intractable migraines. But I'd stick them in a medicine cabinet (or somewhere out of sight) if I knew a camera crew were coming around.”
However, there’s something else that fans were concerned about: how easy it would be for one of Jenelle and David’s children to grab one of the bottles. “I’m more worried that they are just sitting on the counter for any child to grab,” wrote SweetTchr.
“Amount of pill bottles aside (my son and husband have a lot between the two of them), they should not be out on the counter like that. They have young children who often go unsupervised and this is nothing but a disaster waiting to happen,” agreed the_amo. User AnAussiebum agreed, “Isn't this a safety issue to keep them within reach of children? My parents would keep all meds locked in their bedroom. Not on the kitchen counter.”
But recently, fans seem to have more reason to believe that Jenelle could be falling back into her past habits. An Instagram account with the handle @deadbeatmom_jenelle is run by someone who claims to have insider knowledge on Jenelle’s goings on. This alleged insider has shared numerous images to back up their claims, including photos of CPS documents, and has leveled some pretty major accusations against Jenelle that many fans seem to believe.
“This isn’t fake,” claimed the account. “I’m not here to be popular or try to gain followers. I can’t explain why the documents are unprofessionally written but all I can tell you is that they are real. I don’t care if anyone believes what I’m offering. I’m only trying to help people understand what’s going on down here and how she is getting away with everything. The children need a parent to step up and protect them and unfortunately none of these children have a decent parent.”
Although the account could be anyone, many believe it is a crew member with inside knowledge. Among the user’s claims is that Jenelle and David have been growing their own weed on The Land!
“They grow in the shed,” the user claimed. “Yes it’s illegal. I don’t have any photos. It’s a very small plant in the back corner hidden behind some other tools.” They added, “It’s not a huge operation in the shed LOL. It’s one plant and they have a dealer too.”
Among these claims, the account operator also alleged that David and Jenelle are ignoring health problems in their daughter, Ensley. “They are in denial that there is a problem,” they claimed. “I think it embarrasses them so they just hope it goes away… I believe a doctor would have said something to them, but they never tell anyone. Ensley has met all of her check ups and is up to date on her shots so I know a doctor has examined her. I think they just don’t tell anyone what is said.”
Obviously, it’s hard to believe this Instagram account until they provide solid evidence of their claims, but they do have something working in their favor. They recently leaked the fact that David and Jenelle’s home on The Land is sinking, which was later confirmed on the show itself!
During this week’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Jenelle and David face off against the elements — and it’s not looking pretty.
In an early scene, Jenelle explains the problem to her friend. “Look at my ceiling,” she says. “It’s cracking!”
“The company, they build modular homes,” she says. “The homes guy in Wilmington, he’s been arguing with us back and forth. He’s trying to say we put too much dirt on the land to fill our puddles and that we’re making all the water go down under our house.” She says, “We’re like, ‘Dude, you didn’t make the housepad big enough for the first place.’ It was flooded to begin with, and there’s water under our house. Our house is sinking basically!”
“We have the vice president coming tomorrow from corporate,” David explains, adding, “It’s really obvious that I’m right.”
“I’m running some errands today,” Jenelle explained in a voice over for the episode. “But David’s going to show the vice president of the modular home company all the issues we’re having with our house.”
In the episode, David gives the VP a piece of his mind.
“I told them from the very beginning, this is a wet area. I need at least twelve inches of dirt under my house. They put four inches of dirt when I asked for twelve,” he revealed. “They said, ‘Oh, no, well the inspector said it was fine!’... This is not how it had to be. This is wrong.”
He added, “This is probably the worst of the problem inside. See this area? There’s way more than the usual amount of settling happening in my house. My house is sinking!”
“They’ve never made any positive drainage! I’ve built houses, and I’ve rebuilt houses, and I’ve rebuilt foundations of houses. You can take that idea and shove it up your a** ‘cause my house is falling into mud.”
He makes it very clear that he expects changes from the company. “I want my house on stilts or raised up or some dirt under it.” Then he vaguely threatens, “If I got to pay for it, I guarantee you… My wife has got about, I don’t know, 12 million followers on social media…”
But it’s clear that this is an ongoing problem for the family. In a later scene, Jenelle and David let off more steam about the state of their home.
“So when the modular home company came here, he talked to me for a while but he just didn’t seem to understand the true problem,” David reveals.
“It’s like, every time they come here, they want to tell me ‘Well, I think we should put a little drain in here, a little pump under the house, maybe we should grade some dirt.’ I basically told him that that’s not gonna work,” David says.
“Do they not realize our house is sinking in the soft soil that we got right now?” Jenelle exclaims.
David reveals he said, “I told him, ‘My house is sinking in the ground and it’s your fault because I told you this was going to be a problem before it even happened.’ He can be a hero and come and raise up my house, or he can be a bad guy and I can take him to court.”
“If we go to court, that means the inspector will get fired, the manager will lose his job…” Jenelle says. “All that can be avoided. I don’t want drama! I don’t want cracks in my house, and I don’t want to think that it’s sinking while I’m sleeping!”
“I have faith that they will come out and fix our problem,” David reassures her. “I really do.”
Unfortunately, it might not be that easy. No matter how much Jenelle and David face off with the company that built their home, it seems that The Land may simply not be capable of sustaining such a structure.
According to a Teen Mom fan on reddit who is in the process of building a house themself, the type of soil that Jenelle and David built their property on is not well conditioned for a building of that type. The soil is “Goldsboro fine sandy loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes,” and it is “very limited” according to the USDA ranking. This means "the soil has one or more features that are unfavorable for the specified use. The limitations generally cannot be overcome without major soil reclamation, special design, or expensive installation procedures. Poor performance and high maintenance can be expected,” according to reddit user LolNopeNuhUh.
They add that “This is the worst rating given,” and that “The depth to dig to hit water is 1 foot, which is extremely shallow.”
They went on:
“So, yeah, they pretty much built on a swamp without taking the necessary precautions to stabilize the foundation. The reason manufactured homes are so popular in that area is because foundations on sandy soil tend to sink and shift. With a manufactured home you can cheaply have someone come out and re-level it when needed. Since they purchased what I assume to be a modular (which is placed on a foundation and usually appraises just like stick built homes), that thing is dropping faster than Jenelle's feelings.”
Unfortunately, it’s not looking very good for Jenelle and David. Most fans’ advice for the newlyweds? Abandon ship!
“If they were smart they’d cut their losses here,” wrote user PPPenelope. User JessicaMaple joked, “Hire someone to burn it down, don't get caught, collect the insurance check, get the heck outta dodge.”
Others believe that if this information is true, Jenelle and David are totally responsible for the state of their house.
“It’s also very common for these types of homes to sink,” wrote ColesExperience. “Idk why she and David are making such a big deal about it as the builder told them prior to the building process. There are many finishing issues that cannot be started until the house starts sinking.” They added, “My sister has almost this exact model in TN and they had to wait to do the seaming, crown molding in some of the rooms and a few other details until the sinking is complete.”
“It’s similar to a house settling. When this starts to happen the builders come in and address all of the issues free of charge. It’s really not a big deal. Although I’ll be the first to admit that where she lives is all swamp,” they went on. “Not sea, swamp. I’m from the area and I really can’t believe they let her build a modular home there when they know the homes sink anyway let alone on that f*cking mud.”
User Petty_White questioned, “They should have known this going in, and would have if they were being responsible. Is it possible they did know and built/bought the land anyway because that land was cheaper than something better suited for building? This seems so dumb on their part, I can't figure it out. Why did they want this plot so much?” wiredmomm pointed out, “I remember her posting about soil testing* the land so they definitely knew.”
It’s no wonder that this update has fans worried about Jenelle and her children's’ future prospects. “Honestly jenelle’s and the kids futures scare me once the show ends or Jenelle gets axed. They are gonna be so deep in debt. Money problems tends to cause a lot of divorces and other grim outcomes. From what I gathered it’s a pretty expensive upkeep and they aren’t being frugal with their money either. They are blowing through money with multiple vacations a year plus all those shiny toys for the kids and David. It’s a giant recipe for disaster,” added misspriss91.
