Some of these conversations are really tough...
Most teens who find themselves moms- or dads-to-be couldn't imagine a worse fate. But sometimes the hardest thing isn't having to grow up extremely fast, or even raising a child or facing marriage -- but facing the judgment of everyone once they find out about the pregnancy.
For the parents of teens facing pregnancy, it can seem like the end of the world. Even if they are understanding, it can be incredibly difficult to process, and heartbreaking to know that their son or daughter will have to become an adult prematurely. In the meantime, it's understandable for parents to become emotional -- sad, heartbroken, or even furious.
That's why it's extremely crucial for teens to decide how to break it to their parents that they will soon be grandparents. For these 20 teens, they broke it to their parents the best way they could -- for better or for worse.
Admit and Split
My cousin was 19, he left a note that simply read, "Guess who are going to be grandparents." and left for the weekend. They were not impressed. (noloco)
News Travels Fast
I told my teacher who promised he wouldn't say anything until I had spoke to my parents... By the time I had got home from school both parents cars were on the drive (which was unusual as they finish at 5) so I knew what was coming... (dglover4)
Surprise!!
My (17 year old) friend's parents didn't even know he had a girlfriend. When he found out she was pregnant, and that she wanted to keep it, he just kept it a secret from his parents. Nine months later she is having the baby and he just straight up says "I'm going to the hospital." and leaves. Ofcourse his parents are all confused and follow him only to see this girl they don't know squeez out their grandson. (Secretly-a-Unicorn)
Rockstar Parents
Long time ago but, my mom cried and then told me she loved me and offered to tell my dad, who has been known to over react and have a bit of an explosive temper. He called me two hours later and asked how I was doing. I apologized profusely and he said, don't be sorry to me, it's your life, it's going to be hard for you. I told him I knew I needed to do adoption and he said, hey there is plenty of time to figure that out, don't worry about that now, it will be ok. Then he said he loved me and that was it. My parents were f***ing rockstars at that moment. (prettyugly1)
Father's Blessing
Was at church for fathers day and they asked for all the fathers to stand up. I stood up with my dad. They thought it was a bad joke (irish675)

Sonogram Surprise
This was 13 years ago but I walked up to my mom and handed her a 5 month sonogram and walked away. She ended up being really happy unlike my ex's mom who started crying. (shirinisb)
Something to Hide
When I was 19, I was actually working with my mother at the time and managed to wear clothing that was baggy enough to hide it for 5 months. I could no longer do the physical part of my job that I was doing and had to ask to do something different. Since I knew she would find out, I went to her house that day and told her. Her 2 responses: "You really f***ed up this time!" and "I thought your b**bs were getting bigger". She never swears and she also says she never remembers saying that to me, but I will never forget it. (vodkaface)

Mother to Mother
I was 17 and terrified. I had been visiting my out of state boyfriend and a few weeks before I came home I found out I was pregnant. I decided not to tell my mom until I could do it in person, but even then I was so scared that I waited a few days. Finally one night I went into her room and just burst into tears. She was trying to console me, asking what was wrong, asking if everything okay with my boyfriend and I. When I finally blurted out that I was pregnant she told me, "Stop crying. There is nothing to be sad about. You are going to be a wonderful mother." Those were the nicest words my mom ever spoke to me. I was so grateful for her calm and comforting response. My boyfriend and I got married a few weeks later and I moved to his state. We're a few days away from our 3 year wedding anniversary and our baby boy is now a brilliant 2.5 year old and adoring big brother to our second (planned) son. (deleted account)
Grounded ... For A Different Reason
I skipped school that day and went for a blood test to verify the result of the home test. After that I went home and my mother asked me why I wasn't in school. I told her that I needed to talk to her about something. She said "I know your pregnant. I found the test. That doesn't mean I'm going to let you get away with skipping school". So I was 17 years old, pregnant with my own child, and grounded for a month. (Future_Cat_Horder)
Do You Smell That?

Confessions Over Dinner
I told my parents over dinner that night, my dad was silent but my mom freaked out saying that I wasn't pregnant and she wouldn't believe it until a doctor said so. I was a typical good kid before this, I was in advanced classes, never got in trouble, and wasn't a party-er so my parents were pretty shocked. My dad ended up coming to me later in the evening and saying that no matter what they love and support me, my mom settled down and told me the same the next day.
My mom scheduled me an appointment with her gyno two days after telling them and to add to the surprise I was so far along (4.5 months) that I was able to find out the sex of the baby. One of the more stressful moments of my life but it has all turned out well, I'm lucky to have a supportive family. (rad1991)
Mind Readers
It was a while ago, but I just sat down and said "Mom, dad, I have to tell you something". They knew instantly and asked when she was due. Parents can read their children well. (poopdrops)

News from the Mail
My Medicaid forms came in the mail. My father opened my mail for me and read where I had signed up for me and my unborn child. Needless to say he wasn't at all too happy. He was mortified. He yelled at me. Cried. Started drinking. When I had the baby he wasn't there. Now he loves my son more than anything in this world. My mother knew i was pregnant all along she was never upset. (Leopardcuddles)
Tell the Church
Not me, but a girl from high school. She got pregnant in grade nine on the night she lost her virginity (!!). She didn't tell her parents till she was almost 5 months along. She was tiny and didn't even know herself that she was pregnant till she was past her first trimester. She told them at her birthday dinner with the hope that they would be less reactive because it was her birthday. Wrong. They were devout pentacostals and had a complete meltdown over the depravity of sex before marriage, etc. They made her a) announce to their congregation the sin she had committed and b) apologize to her congregation for letting them down. (ElScorcho84)
Tell Her with Insta!
A friend of mine posted her sonogram picture to instagram and tagged her mom. An argument ensued. Unfortunately the picture was deleted. Apparently that's not the mature response to a pregnancy. (Slaughterhouse451)
