It’s not uncommon for fans to be worried or concerned about cast members while watching Teen Mom. We’ve seen some of their darkest moments unfold while the cameras were rolling, but sometimes, their struggles are a bit less obvious.
Now, fans have a concern about Chelsea Houska: many believe she could be suffering from an eating disorder.
Most pregnant women end up with some extra weight after they give birth, and Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea Houska always hits the ground running after she gives birth to lose the baby weight. Over the years, she’s been very transparent about her weight loss methods.
Recently, Chelsea shared endless selfies while she was taping for the Teen Mom 2 reunion, and now she’s sharing all of her secrets.
"I’m happiest when I’m healthiest, that’s why I’m SO excited to continue my Profile journey. There have been so many new products at @Profile_Sanford it’s hard to keep up! Umm Profile Ice Cream? Where have you been all my life?! Let’s do this together!! Use the link in my bio to sign up and receive $150 off your membership using promo code CHELSEA! #ProfileProud," Chelsea shared on Instagram.
Some fans were thrilled about her update and were quick to share their support. But not everyone was so impressed, and fans sounded off with their disappointment in the comments.
“I was disappointed when I looked at the ingredients in one of the shakes and it had sucralose 😕 I always try to avoid artificial sweeteners,” wrote @angela.smith.fit. User @melie_k wrote, “Aw no... not you too 😓 this makes me so sad... I love you, or I did before this toxic diet culture being spread around as ‘health’.” User @jalyssaxo_ wrote, “Dont look like your enjoying it.”
In fact, Chelsea has given a bit of mixed signals about how she loses weight, and fans think she might not rely on Profile as much as she claims.
“How did @ChelseaHouska lose her baby weight? Need tips!” wrote one of Chelsea’s fans on Twitter last year. Chelsea shot back quickly, “Low carb ?.”
“She also does Crossfit, working out and lifting,” another fan chimed in to say. But busy mom Chelsea pointed out, “I wish I still did CrossFit 🙁 I haven’t been to a gym since I was pregnant haha.”
Apparently, for Chelsea, it’s all about what she puts in her mouth. Shockingly, she’s revealed that she hasn’t just lost her baby weight… she’s gotten down to an even lower weight than she started at!
“I’m on a strict/low carb diet,” she told fans. “It was not easy! But I’m 10lbs less than I was before I got pregnant, so it’s been worth it.”
She went on, “I do easy/quick meal prep. Lots of chicken breast and broccoli microwave steamers!”
Recently, fans have even voiced concern that Chelsea may be undereating. These rumors sparked when Chelsea posted this quarantine selfie of her wearing baggy clothing.
"She's not eating or what??" one fan wrote in, according to The Blast. Another shared this concern, writing "Why is she so skinny😳."
"She needs some more weight on her bless her heart :/ 💞💞" One fan wrote. Another chimed in, "Love the lazy look but bring back your Vava Voom figure. Your clothes just hang on you now."
And this isn’t the first time fans have written in with these concerns.
The conversation also circulated after a recent update Chelsea shared.
“Turkey BLT minus the T lettuce wrap,” Chelsea shared in one photo of the wrap. In another photo, she’s stirring a cheesy dish that she captioned, “And for the rest of the fam.”
Fans sounded off on reddit about Chelsea’s apparent restrictive eating.
“I feel like women like this who are constantly on and off diets will rub off on their children...you CAN lose and maintain weight by eating what your family eats. I guess as someone who struggles with an eating disorder myself I hate seeing stuff like this :/” wrote user AllDayCoffeeGurl.
Other users voiced their opinions as well. “I wish she would just make a healthy recipe for the entire family. That stuff on the right looks awful and what she’s eating doesn’t look much better. ‘I’m going to starve myself over here while I feed everyone else a casserole dish full of crap,’” wrote user lcohen76.
User Deleteordecay wrote, “Honestly this just makes me sad for her. I don’t think she has an eating disorder (but who would know for sure really - people hide that shit really well), but to me it’s just a symptom of the pressure many women put themselves under to be slim. I don’t believe she feels full or satisfied after eating that.”
But some are less convinced.
“I definitely do not have an eating disorder and the left is how I eat. I avoid simple carbs 90% of the time, it's not keto or any of that bullsh*t, it's health choices. Like carrots and ranch instead of chips or Italian ice instead of ice cream. I'll have a splurge day once a month or so but I feel better and my clothes fit better when I cut the carbs,” DilaudaNSammies wrote on reddit, adding, “I'm not a huge Chelsea fan but I think she just discovered healthy eating.”
