A lot has been happening in the Teen Mom world, but one thing that remains constant is the support the OG girls usually give one another. They've been on television for a decade, and no one knows the pressures of growing up on television quite like they do.
Unfortunately, fans aren't always so unwavering when it comes to the Teen Mom girls. Lately, Catelynn Lowell has been on the receiving end of criticism because she is still supporting and encouraging Amber Portwood after her recent arrest. Is Catelynn going to lose her lifelong fans over this one?
Catelynn Lowell has been vocal about her support for Amber Portwood during her legal battles, but is she alienating her fans? Plenty of Teen Mom viewers have expressed their distaste for the situation and are not happy that Catelynn is turning a blind eye.
Back in July, Amber was arrested for attacking her partner Andrew Glennon while he was holding their son. Although some resilient fans defend her, it’s no wonder that most Teen Mom viewers are totally done with Amber, and her legal charges reflect this.
She was sentenced to 910 days in county jail, which seems like a lot… until you discover that only 906 of those days were suspended, meaning that she’s essentially on home probation. For the remaining four days, she got a two day credit for time served. That means she only has to serve two days in jail.
And Amber is apparently not done with Andrew. She’s reportedly demanding he be held in contempt for denying her time with James.
According to Radar, Amber filed an Information and Verified Motion for Rule to Show Cause on Nov. 6. She claimed that Andrew “denied [her] all parenting time since October 22, 2019.”
The filing reads, “On October 23, 2019, the undersigned counsel contacted counsel for Father requesting to confirm times for parenting time exchanges and no response was provided. Father’s failure to communicate or schedule parenting time is Violation of Paragraph 1(c) of the Mediated Agreement.”
On Halloween when Amber was supposed to have time with James, Andrew allegedly “failed to communicate with [Amber] in person or through counsel to allow [Amber] to exercise her holiday parenting time.”
As for Andrew, he shared his feelings about the ordeal in a lengthy open letter to Amber.
“To say that our family was broken in one night is an understatement. The reality of what brought us here transpired over a year and many months. It dates back to the first time you hit me in the face while I was driving you and our son on a highway in the pouring rain to make it to your daughter’s school on time to see her off,” he wrote in part.
He penned:
“You have stripped us of too many precious first memories together. Days when all three of us should have been at our happiest in life. You have darkened every holiday I can remember with you. For this all to happen on the 4th of July fits that pattern to a ‘T’. And here we are, on Halloween, in court for something that never should have happened and was entirely avoidable.
That night was one of the scariest nights of my life, and my mind replays the worst moments to no end.”
Amber then went on Instagram Live, where Catelynn showed love for her cast mate, which is what angered fans.
“LOVE YOU GIRL!!!” Catelynn commented on the video.
“Screw the haters!” she added.
Fans on reddit were less than pleased.
“screw the haters Cate? you mean screw the people who care about an innocent child caught in Amber's rage?” wrote one user. “screw the people who expect Amber to be responsible for her own actions? screw the people that have the common sense you don't have?”
“If Cate was truly worried about her friend Amber, she would be telling her to stay off social media and help her get her s**t together,” wrote another.
“Wouldn't the ultimate goal here be for Amber to adequately address her very obvious issues and lead a healthy, productive, non-violent life? She will likely need the support of her friends to achieve this,” commented a third. “Now, if Care [sic] was an Amber-apologist I'd agree with you. I haven't seen Cate make excuses or defend Amber's behaviour. If she has done this, then I also agree with you… but not listening to the negative comments from others is good advice. Amber absolutely should not be 'defending' herself on social media.”
