In a recent interview with Daily Pop, Dr. Drew discussed the issues that can arise when a star is addicted to fame. He originally focused on Frankie Grande, but then talked about the traits of Teen Mom cast members.
Since everyone has been caught up in the whirlwind of Jenelle Evans' divorce, he was asked to address her situation and whether or not she will return to Teen Mom 2. What he had to say was honest and refreshing, keep reading for all the details on the interview!
Dr. Drew knows a thing or two about the Teen Mom cast, so he’s probably a good judge of character. And since fans have been focused on Jenelle Evans’s divorce, people were quick to ask Dr. Drew what he thought of the situation.
Jenelle announced her split from David in an Instagram post on October 31. “I’ve mostly kept off social media the past few days because I’ve been focused on making some big life decisions,” she began. “I’ve lived my life on camera since I was 17 years old. And a lot of it hasn’t been pretty. But its been my life.”
“Like anyone else I want what’s best for my kids and I want to be happy. With time away from Teen Mom I’ve started to look at my life differently and I know I need to make changes,” she continued. “I’m starting that now.”
Later, it was revealed that Jenelle moved to another state during the divorce proceeds, and she filed a restraining order against her husband.
According to an update by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, she allegedly filed for and was granted a restraining order against David… and is now hiding out.
“Jenelle is in hiding,” a source revealed to The Ashley. “She has no plans to return to The Land. She left the state and does not plan to come back to North Carolina for her stuff or anything. The kids are with her.”
They went on, “The restraining order was granted because Jenelle was able to show proof [to the judge] that abuse had occurred. Now that David’s been served, she can begin the divorce proceedings.”
The details of the restraining order had been released by E! Online. In them, Jenelle claims she's concerned for her children's safety.
"Because of his recent threats, his history of violence, his erratic behavior and his large stockpile of weapons, I am scared for my life and my children's well-being," the filing reportedly read.
Fans theorized that Jenelle will return to MTV after the divorce, but that is hearsay at the moment and has not been confirmed. And according to The Ashley, Dr. Drew is in full support of Jenelle!
While Dr. Drew was discussing an episode of E! True Hollywood Story that detailed Frankie Grande’s addiction to fame, he brought up Jenelle as an example of someone who grew up in the limelight.
He said he has a “deep affection and concern” for Jenelle during her divorce. Dr. Drew went on to discuss fame addiction, and that Jenelle is someone who grew up on reality TV who did not develop such an obsession.
“Let me say this, I don’t think Jenelle is addicted to fame because she’s always been very ambivalent about being in the public eye,” he said. “She’s hated the social media scrutiny. She is trolled like no one else. She really gets more negativity than almost any other of the moms and she made a conscious decision to get off the show for a while.”
He then said that any effort of Jenelle’s to get publicity is based upon the fact that it is her livelihood. She’s her own business! “The problem here — Jenelle has some stuff going on in her life and if she loses her livelihood also, that could potentially really hurt her,” he said.
“She has a realistic decision here: do I return to work…or do I find some other employer?”
Jenelle’s safety is a major concern for her at the moment, so being in the public eye might not be on her radar currently. In her restraining order, she detailed 11 alleged incidents that David perpetrated over the past two years.
Jenelle wrote:
"Given his actions and knowing his temperament, I believe he was implying that he would kill himself if I do not come back to him... For all of these reasons, I'm afraid that David will harm me or my children, and that he will continue to threaten me using text messages, phone calls, or on the internet."
According to E! a court date has been set for late in the month of November.
