Does she still care for him?
It can be difficult to shake off feelings from a previous relationship, no matter how long ago it was. With how often Teen Mom couples break things off and get back together, it’s clear that they struggle with it too. Even when things come to a nasty end, it can be difficult to stop having feelings for someone you used to be with — especially if you had a child with them.
Could this be the case for Maci Bookout? Someone believes she still has feelings for her baby daddy, Ryan Edwards — and it’s someone very close to her!
Split Up
When Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards first found out they would be parents, they wanted to make it work. They moved in together and tried their hardest to juggle a relationship, parenting, and rapidly growing up.
We all know how that ended — not very well. The couple eventually split, and time didn’t heal this wound. Even though they still work together to raise Bentley, between Ryan’s absences, his new wife, and his drug addiction, their relationship isn’t exactly in the best place.
One person thinks there’s another factor in their strained relationship: jealousy.
Almost Married
Last episode of Teen Mom OG got very real in a lot of ways, but Mackenzie Standifer did some work to stir the pot between Maci and Ryan. After the newlyweds decided to have a baby together, they discussed their first children. Mackenzie was a teen mom herself, and she brought up the pressure she felt to marry her baby daddy.
“I was seventeen,” she recalled to Ryan. “I lived with my mom and dad… yeah, it was hard. I remember when I got pregnant, they wanted me to marry [my baby daddy] Zach and do the right thing.”
“That would have been awful if Maci and I got married,” Ryan said. “Just completely awful.”
“But you know what?" Mackenzie said. "I respect you so much for the fact that you had the balls to say ‘No, this isn’t what makes me happy,’ and you went with it."
Apparently, Ryan seriously considered marrying Maci. “It was hard, because my parents wanted me to do it. I even bought a ring,” he reveals.
None Of My Business...
“Do you think [Maci] has let go of the past?” Mackenzie asked. Ryan laughed and exclaimed, “No! It’s my opinion I don’t think she has. I can’t act like I’m not to blame for any of it because I am, but it just sucks we have to drag it out and hold grudges… and stuff like that.”
Ryan seems to think he’s pretty unforgettable!
These days, Maci doesn’t get tangled up in the drama very often, but her husband, Taylor McKinney, was willing to share his opinion.
After the episode aired, one fan seemed annoyed with Mackenzie and Ryan’s conversation. They tweeted, “Lol at Mackenzie wondering if Maci has moved on from the past and claiming Ryan left her. You and Ryan are the ones constantly bringing up ancient history, and clearly aren’t over SH*T #TeenMomOG.”
Taylor saw the tweet and quickly chimed in without holding anything back. He wrote:
“Well when you have 2 jobless adults, one of whom is 30 years old and still needs his a** wiped, what do you [expect] the dinner convos to be? They should thank Maci for paying their ‘nursing school’….but that’s none of my business.”
Good Call
Fans were surprised by Taylor’s words, but some were even surprised he spoke out at all! “He must be really p*ssed because he never says sh*t,” pointed out reddit user lsutyger05. User PUZZLEPIECER wrote, “So glad Taylor stepped up and called out the bullsh*t. I can respect them for keeping quiet and staying out of the social media drama and putting Bentley first by not talking sh*t on Ryan, but sometimes you have to call a spade, a spade.”
On top of it, fans aren’t buying the idea that Maci has any feelings for Ryan at all. “I’m sure Maci is totally ok with how things turned out for her,” wrote user kikiNana214. “Maci has zero unfinished business or regret when it comes to Ryan. She wiped her hands of Ryan a long long time ago.”
