It went DOWN!
The Teen Moms have their fair share of drama, fighting, and frustration. They have to deal with family, exes, and baby daddies publicly and on a daily basis, but all that is nothing compared to what happens at the reunion. When all those people are in one room, the drama levels up considerably. I mean, there is a reason that people live for the reunion specials.
That said, it looks like what went down backstage at the recent Teen Mom 2 reunion taping included some of the wildest moments to date. In fact, it got so bad that it's rumored that production was temporarily shut down following the incident.
At the heart of it seem to be Jenelle Evans, David Eason, Nathan Griffith, and his new girlfriend Ashley Lanhardt. They’ve all since spoken out on social media to share their sides of the story, but fans aren’t convinced about what the truth really is.
Feeling Unsafe
According to the stars, the trouble began at a Teen Mom party segment filmed during the reunion, when David Eason’s temper got a little out of control. “All of the cast was drinking and having a good time while filming this party, which will be used during an end-of-the-year clips show featuring both casts,” a source told The Ashley. “David was acting too drunk and the producers noticed it.”
David got cut off, and was so angry that he pulled out a knife! According to the source:
“They cut [David] off at the bar. When David found out they wouldn’t serve him more alcohol he got super mad. He took out his pocketknife and started slashing the balloons with it! This took place a few feet away from where the cameras were filming, so there’s a slight chance it may be captured on film.”
It’s not uncommon for fake rumors to arise following a reunion taping, but a second source confirmed this one. “It freaked everyone out,” the second source told The Ashley. “Everyone just kind of froze in disbelief. Jenelle realized everyone was creeped out by what had just happened and she said he was ‘just having trouble getting through’ or something.”
In fact, David’s actions seem to have production amping up security for future filming. The second source close to the incident continued:
“Before filming started today everyone– cast, crew, audience– had to go through a security checkpoint, get patted down and wanded and have their bags checked. The cast and crew have never had to do this before, really. The production staff doesn’t want to take any chances now.
Things get really intense on these sets and they can’t have someone possessing a weapon of any kind. No one ever thought the day would come where they would have to check their own cast for weapons,” they added. “It’s gotten to the point where it’s not even funny anymore. People are legit feeling unsafe.”
All-Out Fight!
That’s not the only thing that went down this reunion — far from it. Apparently, an all-out fight broke out during filming.
“Most of the cast was in various green rooms backstage and the kids were all running around playing together,” another of The Ashley’s sources, who was on the set, said.“The fight started when Nathan’s girlfriend [Ashley Lanhardt] was walking past the room Barbara was in. Barbara hugged Ashley goodbye and Jenelle saw it and came bursting out of the room.”
Jenelle wasn’t happy with that. “She yelled at Barbara that it was wrong for her own mother to hug Nathan’s girlfriend,” the source said.
Apparently, that's when things got entirely out of hand.
“Nathan jumped in and was defending Ashley, and that’s when Jenelle called David in,” the source said. “She yelled that Nathan was being out of control. That’s when one of the female producers stepped in between Jenelle and Ashley.”
It led to all-out chaos on the set. According to The Ashley's insider:
“The kids were all running around during this huge fight, and someone in the cast grabbed Kaiser and took him away from the scene. Because the fight was in the hallway, some of the other cast members were basically trapped inside the rooms they were in. Some of the other parents were really concerned and barged out of the green rooms to find their kids and bring them somewhere safe.”
Jenelle's Side
Needless to say, Jenelle and Nathan have two entirely different recollections of the story. Jenelle, Nathan, and Ashley all took to social media to share their take on what went down.
Jenelle posted a live Instagram video, starting off by saying, “I came here to do a live video … because of the s**t that happened last night.”
She went on, “If you haven’t heard, last night there was an article that, of course, comes out after I left, [saying] that they had to shut down production and Jenelle and David were acting crazy.”
Jenelle claimed that David never had a knife. When he was denied alcohol, he stormed outside and popped balloons on the way out, with no knife involved.
She also claims that she and Ashley got into a fight because of Ashley’s reaction to something Jenelle said. She claims that she pointed out Ashley has always said she doesn’t want to be filmed, but was being filmed for the reunion. That’s when Ashley started to “cuss her out,” and Jenelle says Ashley was pinned to a wall and then asked to leave.
She claims that her mother also stirred the pot. Barbara allegedly told her, “You are being abused, Jenelle, and you won’t tell anybody. You’re worse than you’ve ever been, even worse than when you were on drugs.”
Nathan's Side
As for Nathan’s side of the story, it was pretty much the exact opposite of Jenelle's. Shocking, right?
Of Jenelle’s claims that Ashley attacked her, he said, “That is a straight lie” on a video posted to Twitter. He claims that Jenelle “came at” Ashley, saying, “I thought you didn’t want to film, b***h!” But he says that Ashley was only there to support him, not to film. Even though he tried to leave, he says, “Jenelle kept on running at us!”
He and Ashley then went into a separate room, according to their story, but Jenelle forced her way in. That’s when he called for security as Jenelle yelled at Nathan’s mother, Doris. She also ran into Barbara’s room and yelled at her about hugging Ashley. “These kids just need love, and they’re just going to absorb all this hate and all this violence around them,” he said.
As with many stories that have two sides, the truth likely lies somewhere in the middle. But Chelsea’s father, Randy Houska, corroborated Nathan’s side. He tweeted, “Just watched a bunch of videos (both sides). Everything I saw went exactly as [Nathan] described it. We were stuck right in the middle of it.”
Dangerous Environment
Fans on Reddit were divided about who they believed, but many of them were just concerned about how this affected the rest of the cast.
“Imagine you’re the girlses,” wrote Reddit user MilkTrees. “First David pulls out a knife and then the next day you’re stuck in your green room hearing a fight break out (that David’s in) and not able to get to your kid? I would be sick to my stomach.” User Petty_White agreed, “How long until the other girls refuse to film with Jenelle for the safety of their own children? I'd be super pissed if this shit continued to happen around my children.”
User Coleatemycereal chimed in, “If I was Chelsea or Leah or Kail I would refuse to have my kids around Jenelle and David now for any reason. No more reunions if she's going to be there. The show is going to have to make a choice like now.”
Needless to say, fans are looking forward to when the reunion finally airs!
