A few weeks ago, Chelsea Houska announced that she would be leaving Teen Mom 2.
In true reality show fashion, she let the rumors of her departure swirl before she decided to confirm the news herself on Instagram. Many fans are sad to see her go, but many more are wondering who MTV will choose to replace her.
Now, it looks like we might have an answer to that question!
Fans of the show know that things are a bit up in the air since Chelsea Houska announced she was leaving.
“The girls were filming from their homes, along with Dr. Drew [Pinsky] and Nessa, and at the end when all of the girls were on-screen together with [the hosts], they let Chelsea make her announcement to them,” a source told The Ashley’s Reality Roundup.
“Chelsea told everyone that she has decided that it’s best for her family if they move on from the show, and that it was a really hard decision, but that she feels like a weight has been lifted from her shoulder. The girls were all supportive of her decision, but no one else announced that they were leaving,” the source added. “It’s obvious Chelsea’s life doesn’t really fit the show anymore, though.”
Later, Chelsea confirmed the news on her Instagram page.
"MTV’s Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years," Chelsea began her statement. "After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last."
As heartbreaking as this is, it's clear that Chelsea has put a lot of thought into this. She penned:
"We are forever thankful to MTV and our crew, who are like family to us. We’re parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this. We’re proud to have been able to share our story and are so grateful to the fans who have followed our journey from the beginning. Our next chapter in life will focus on developing our brand and taking things to the next level with new endeavors and expanding family businesses."
She also invited fans to keep up with her, writing, "Please tune into our last moments on the show and continue to follow along our journey on social media. We are so excited for this next phase of our lives and hope you all will be a part of it in some way!"
A major theory of why Chelsea quit has to do with her baby daddy, Adam Lind.
When you're on TV, your dirty laundry is constantly dredged up. And since Chelsea doesn't have too much of it, that means producers expect her to be constantly talking about her ex, Adam Lind. That makes it harder than ever to move on and leave the past in the past.
Fans have theorized that Chelsea has pushed for the producers to change topics to no avail. Maybe doing this one too many times has made Chelsea decide enough is enough.
Other fans have theorized that she has bigger things on the horizon and wants to be rid of her MTV contract. But the major question on everyone’s mind…who is going to replace Chelsea?
Well, Kiaya Elliott has the answer!
According to The Sun, Kiaya said that people want her to replace Chelsea.
During an Instagram Q&A, a fan wrote, “Can you replace Chelsea on TM2.”
“@teenmom,” Kiaya replied. “The people want what they want.”
Kiaya was recently featured on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant while she was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend.

Did Cole DeBoer Make Chelsea Houska Quit 'Teen Mom 2'?
Last week, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported that Chelsea told producers weeks ago that she has no plans to return to Teen Mom 2. The Season 10A reunion will be her last show.
Although they reported that Chelsea told producers that she did not want to return, the other cast members and those who work on the show only found out while filming the reunion yesterday.
“The girls were filming from their homes, along with Dr. Drew [Pinsky] and Nessa, and at the end when all of the girls were on-screen together with [the hosts], they let Chelsea make her announcement to them,” a source told the outlet.
“Chelsea told everyone that she has decided that it’s best for her family if they move on from the show, and that it was a really hard decision, but that she feels like a weight has been lifted from her shoulders,” they continued.
“The girls were all supportive of her decision, but no one else announced that they were leaving,” the source added. “It’s obvious Chelsea’s life doesn’t really fit the show anymore, though.”
Now, Chelsea is confirming this rumor in a statement.
"MTV’s Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years," Chelsea began her statement on Instagram. "After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last."
As heartbreaking as this is, it's clear that Chelsea has put a lot of thought into this. She penned:

This update has left fans wondering: is Cole DeBoer the reason Chelsea decided to quit?
Despite his early popularity, fans have been turning on Cole based on his behavior in recent episodes. Could their vocal and open critiques of Chelsea's man be what pushed her over the edge?
Recently, these critiques flared up after Cole complained that Aubree hadn't saved him as "dad" in her new phone.
"I think Cole, just like Javi, loveesssss to have the 'savior' role," wrote reddit user gimtibbles. "He was weirdly pushy with the whole adopting Aubree storyline. Neither of them would care if Adam died tomorrow, but Aubree would. She would be devastated. They need to remember that regardless of Adam being a piece of sh*t, Aubree loves him and wants him in her life. He is her dad."
"Cole has been annoying me more and more lately. He’s pushy in his own way and he obviously doesn’t understand Aubree loves him just where he is. He already has 2 children who call him Dad, let Aubree alone," wrote user xiixiilxxv.
User ImCallingPapa wrote, "that’s literally one of the most manipulative things you can say to a child, im beginning to resent cole and his pressure on his step daughter to treat him like her one and only. f*cking whack."
Could this backlash be why the couple quit?
There's one more theory why Chelsea quit: and he's named Adam Lind.
But some fans have other theories.
"Remember, these girls are in contracts with MTV. once you walk away, you're free to do whatever promo or other show you want. I think she has bigger things on her horizon," wrote user Jeremysjeansandtees on reddit.
"Chelsea left because she knows that the series is about to be canceled and she wanted to leave before that happened on her own terms," theorized Important_Gain.
Others' theories are simpler, like user Amberilwomengo2gel. "Nah, she is stupid and boring, people got sick of her and Coley Daddy exploiting their kid. Randy probably told her to throw a Karen fit and run away. Randy is a total Karen, I can tell," the wrote.
What do you think is the real reason Chelsea left?
