Chelsea Houska has always had a bit of trouble in her life. From struggling to get her GED to battling her baby daddy Adam Lind, she hasn’t always had the easiest road. But recently, she’s opened up about something else that’s been weighing on her: a struggle with anxiety and panic attacks.
In a clip for the upcoming episode of Teen Mom 2, Chelsea opened up about feeling nervous in advance of her launch party of her clothing line with a South Dakota boutique called Lauriebelles. And although it wasn’t the first time Chelsea had a launch party like this, she revealed the nerves were still getting to her.
“Even though I’ve been doing more of these events, it’s not getting any easier,” she explains in a voice over. In a meeting with her friend Laura, she reveals just how bad it’s been.
“I’m nervous,” Chelsea reveals. “Like I’ve always been anxious…but like it went from being like, ‘Oh I’m nervous,’ to like, debilitating.”
“I just want this to do well,” she went on. “I want to obviously like make Laurie proud. I just wanna like kill it so that maybe she wants me around permanently, and this means a lot to me, so I want to do good. I’ve always loved clothes!”
She revealed that she’s not a fan of being in the spotlight. “I don’t know if I like attention straight on me,” Chelsea shared. “That’s what I think this is going to be… I don’t think it’s going to be a ton of people, but then it’s like, ‘What if nobody comes?’”
In another clip taken the next day, Chelsea spills, “The event is today, and I took time to meditate, but I’m still super anxious.”
In the car ride over to Lauriebelles, Chelsea clearly becomes anxious. She tells her husband Cole DeBoer that she needs to listen to her meditation books, and then has him stop at the gas station so she can pee, which she explains is because she’s feeling anxious.
“Let’s get there as fast as we can,” Chelsea begs when she gets back in the car. “Because I’m going to feel better once we’re there.”
“I don’t know why this happens,” Chelsea says. “My body can’t just be like, ‘Oh, I’m excited slash nervous!’ I got f*cking issues.”
As Teen Mom fans know, Chelsea isn’t the only one to suffer with anxiety. Luckily, her friend and co-star Catelynn Lowell decided to show up in support of Chelsea during the Teen Mom 2 reunion.
Catelynn shared the news via Instagram. “As you know, we are always open with our fans and there’s been a lot going on in our lives. We will be at the #TeenMom2 reunion this weekend and for a very important reason. We are sharing the news with you, our fans, in advance. Thanks always for your support and love.”
“I’m looking forward to going and speaking from my experience with struggling with panic disorder,” Catelynn revealed in an interview with In Touch Weekly. “I’m hoping I can be a beam of light for Chelsea to let her know that things do get better and change if you put in the work.”
