It's that time of year again!
Time for Teen Mom OG drama to kick into high gear again. Thank God! Teen Mom 2 is wild, but no one does co-star squabbles like the OGs. With the next season of OG less than two weeks away, the girls are slowly creeping their way back into the public eye, which means interviews, ramped up social media efforts, and shade flying everywhere.
Amber Portwood and Catelynn Baltierra kicked it all off by talking to People in a new set of interviews about their recent scandals. The girls got really, really real about their co-star Farrah Abraham. Then, Farrah’s sometimes-boyfriend Simon Saran responded, because of course he did!
Gotta love OG season.
Let’s dive in!
'Teen Mom' Perks
Loving Teen Mom is fun because it’s never really off the air. Sure, there are a few weeks between the end of an OG season and the beginning of TM2, but those weeks are usually filled with MTV’s PR machine kicking into high gear, hyping people up for the new season. It’s honestly a good (or, maybe, all-consuming) fandom to be a part of ... for that reason.
Now, we’re in that glorious time, and the OG girls are already delivering.
Spilling It All...
Amber Portwood and Catelynn Baltierra chatted with People earlier this week and held nothing back when talking about their controversial co-star, Farrah Abraham. Of course, Amber and Farrah have spent the past six months in an all-out war after their explosive fight at TMOG’s last reunion special.
Despite the fact that it appeared that Portwood was responsible for the escalation of the altercation into physical violence rather than just harsh words (I say "appeared," because who knows with editing?), the other Teen Moms have all taken her side.
Drama!
Since the reunion smack-down, the rest of the OGs (Amber, Catelynn, and Maci Bookout) have been on vacation together, planned (then cancelled) the Teen Mom Cruise without Farrah, have planned weddings to which Abraham may or may not be invited (more on that later), and now, given interviews to let fans know how they really (really, really) feel about Farrah.
Cutting Ties
In a new interview with People, Amber and Catelynn came out swinging when asked about their co-star. The entire interview centers on their opinions of Abraham, and neither girl minced words.
"[Farrah’s] just not a person that I want to attach myself with," Portwood says to kick off the video, then launches into an explanation of the "wedding invite" debacle from a few weeks ago.
Oooh, man, this is getting good
The star said that Saran and Abraham “were never quite invited,” (emphasis on Saran not being invited), but she couldn’t believe Farrah’s reaction to the situation. "[The invitation] was actually a chance for her to be a stand-up person," she said, but explained that she ultimately doesn’t "give a s**t" what Farrah does on her big day.
Catelyyn didn’t sit back and let Amber get in all the punches. When asked how they deal with Farrah’s constant criticisms, Baltierra jumped right in with some jabs of her own:
"Well, when you listen to what she says—most of the time when she answers stuff—she doesn’t make sense anyway," Baltierra offered with a smirk, while Portwood added that she thinks that Farrah is far from honest, rather, that she "says things people want to hear."
"Sadness"
Perhaps the biggest blows from Catelynn and Amber’s tell-all came next. "I do not want kids today who are watching the show to think that [Farrah] is a strong woman. That’s her thing, you know? That she’s the ‘strong woman.’ No. That is not a strong woman, that is a hateful woman," Portwood said.
She then said the one word that she would use to describe Farrah is "sadness."
"Get Help"
Then, Catelynn and Amber wrapped it up by saying that Farrah "needs to get help to help herself." Baltierra even said that she needs "severe counseling." Amber contributed, saying she finds it sad that people in the industry find Farrah to be a "joke" becuase of her extreme behavior.
No, no, no, ladies. Tell us what you really think.
Simon Says...
So far, Farrah has yet to respond to her co-stars’ comments… but surprise, surprise—Simon has. Despite the fact that Amber let everyone know just what she thinks of Saran ("what a weirdo"), Simon jumped at the chance to get into the fight. When asked by HollywoodLife why he thought the Teen Moms were piling on his sometimes-boo, he said "Who knows? They aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed."
Okay, so I guess it's safe to say that the gloves are off on both sides of this.
Uninvited?
He also expressed disappointment that he was "uninvited" to the wedding, saying that he was "actually looking forward to going."
Consider that just a week ago he was saying that he was excited to go to because it would be a "circus." Hey, uninviting someone may not be okay according to etiquette books, but if someone said that about my wedding, I’d probably "uninvite" them, too...
