The truth is coming out!
In the Teen Mom world, there’s a lot of misinformation. Cast members can often start up rumors unintentionally, or even let things slip when they don’t mean to. Add fan speculation to the mix, and there are bound to be rumors going around that aren’t entirely true. But when a cast member completely lies, that’s an entirely different story.
If some lies are worse than others, then lying about mental illness is probably one of the worst lies out there. Whether this Teen Mom cast member lied for attention or just out of ignorance, fans are furious that they would make a mental illness up entirely.

Mental illness is a very sensitive topic, and millions of people suffer without ever revealing their experiences due to social stigma. That’s why lying about mental illness can be so damaging. For those in a celebrity position, these lies can be even worse, because they spread falsehoods to millions of fans and viewers. Apparently, that didn’t stop this Teen Mom star.

Farrah Abraham is no longer a Teen Mom cast member, but that doesn’t mean fans are done tuning in to her life. A huge shock came out of Farrah’s neck of the woods last week when her mother, Debra Danielsen, revealed a massive secret about her daughter.
“If you have Borderline Personality Disorder, if you have narcissism, any of these kinds of things, they’re all highly treatable,” Debra spilled while appearing on the web show Shot Topics. She never specifically said she was speaking about Farrah, but she was clearly implying her daughter was suffering from these conditions. “All is not lost, but I will say that deep down inside I know my daughter. She is kind, loving and she is sweet and very compassionate. I think she works extremely hard, I think she just needs to step back a moment, and take some time and get healthy and take time for her so she can heal.”

As for Farrah? She says that Debra was straight up lying about her mental illness diagnoses!
Farrah revealed that she was “sad to hear my own mother would say these untrue things about her own child” in an interview with People Magazine. “It’s evil and alarming,” Farrah said. “After all these years, I still have her best interests at heart.”
Farrah did confirm that she has suffered a great deal in her life, but explained that none of the diagnoses that Debra hinted at were accurate. “Clinically & honestly, none of my TV show therapists & personal therapist have all said I’m balanced,” Farrah said. “I started [therapy] in my past at the age of 14 due to my mother and I not getting along as our family therapist sided with me about my safety and my life choices that my mother has never been supportive or caring to help guide her own children.” In fact, Farrah claims her therapists theorize that Debra is just “jealous” of her!
