It’s no secret that Ryan Edwards has a history of substance abuse. His behavior on the show and Maci’s reactions to his behavior made that pretty clear.
He’s recently checked into rehab to get help for his addiction, and now, Maci has come forward to share that his problems are more serious than they seemed. She had a lot to say about the uphill battle that her ex is facing, and it’s not pretty.
Ryan in Rehab
Recently it became clear that Ryan’s addiction had gotten so out of hand that he needed professional help. Numerous sources confirmed that Ryan and his support system made the decision to check him into a rehabilitation center. For Maci, the decision was life and death.
As she opened up in an emotional moment during Teen Mom, it was clear that she felt the decision was out of her hands. She said, “I wonder if today’s gonna be the day that Ryan does something that he can’t come back from.”
In a sneak peek of the next episode of Teen Mom, it becomes clear that, even though Ryan is in rehab, Maci is still seeking assistance. She calls a counselor to get professional help for the difficult situation.
The preview shows her saying, “I’m not really sure exactly what it is he’s using, but sometimes he’ll fall asleep while you’re trying to have a conversation with him.” She added that he is often “extremely wide-eyed, and he doesn’t look right.”
It’s not really clear what Ryan is abusing that’s making him act like this, but we do know that when he went to rehab in 2012, it was for abuse of prescription pain killers.
Maci admits to the counselor that, even though she’s been worrying about Ryan, she hasn’t spoken to him directly about his problems. That’s when the counselor suggests that Maci consider giving Ryan an ultimatum. The biggest playing chip that Maci has is their son, Bentley.
Maci says, “I’m hoping it doesn’t get to that point, but that would be the ultimatum.” Considering that Maci is always trying to get Ryan to be more involved with their son’s life, her decision to push him away means that things must be pretty serious.
