She's trying to put a stop to it!
When you’re a reality TV star, it’s pretty common to feel that you’re being misrepresented. At the end of the day, producers, editors, and the network that hosts your show are going to make some serious calls about the way that you and your life will be portrayed to the public. That’s why it’s not uncommon for reality TV stars to try to take control of their own narratives by revealing their sides of the stories in tell-all memoirs.
We’ve seen many stars do this, including Maci Bookout, Jenelle Evans, and Kailyn Lowry. Now, for the first time in Teen Mom history, we might be getting a book from an ex. Kailyn’s ex husband Javi Marroquin feels he has something to say, but not if Kailyn can do anything about it!
The Teen Mom memoirs and tell-alls are a unique look directly into the minds of the stars of the show. They share even their most private of experiences, including what they feel was left out or altered in the editing of the TV show they’re starring on. For those who think they know it all about the stars, their memoirs are notorious for flipping the script.
Now, it looks like we might be getting that exact experience with Javi Marroquin. For the first time, we might get a memoir by one of the Teen Mom cast members who aren’t the girls themselves.
For anyone who read Kail’s memoir, Hustle & Heart, you know that she didn’t exactly paint Javi in the best light. So it’s no surprise that the thought of Javi writing a book himself has Kailyn worried. She’s apparently so worried that she’s making it difficult for Javi to get the book underway.
“The book is coming,” Javi said in an interview with Radar Online. “There are things in there I needed Kail’s permission to say. She’s obviously not happy with some of the stuff in there. That’s the delay right now.”
He says that once he and Kailyn see eye-to-eye, we’ll get the book. “As soon as Kail and I can come to an equal compromise, hopefully we can keep pressing on it,” he said. Of course, Kailyn and Javi aren’t exactly notorious for their ability to compromise.
As for Javi, he got dragged through the mud pretty thoroughly in Kailyn’s book. “I wanted to open a blowdry bar, an idea my friends were so supportive of,” Kailyn wrote in Hustle & Heart. “Javi, on the other hand, was not on board. In fact, he was downright unsupportive, knocking down the idea every time I brought it up.” She also called him “controlling and jealous.”
She added, “When he did things like demanding that I unlock my phone to prove I had nothing to hide, or calling me constantly when I was enjoying time with friends to make sure I wasn’t doing anything ‘sneaky’ behind his back, it became clearer and clearer how little my husband trusted me. I had done nothing to make him doubt me. I never lied, never went behind his back and I was never unfaithful. For some reason, he was convinced otherwise.”
The problems that she had with him consisted even throughout couples therapy. “It always felt like we were going two steps forward, one step back,” she wrote. “Every day was so different that at a certain point I didn’t know if we’d ever come out in front.”
