Fans flipped out!
Jenelle Evans has found herself at the center of controversy once again. Ever since the controversial episode that put Jenelle’s marital woes at the forefront aired earlier this season, the star has been shutting down rumors left and right. She’s still sticking by her guns and saying that MTV (and fans) got it all wrong! She’s even threatening to quit the show… but that doesn’t mean she’s put the rest of her life on hold!
She continues to update her social media accounts with snaps of her family spending time together ― a much different picture of her life than sometimes appears on MTV. As if on cue, though, Jenelle has started more controversy with a recent picture that has fans concerned about her children’s safety.
It’s no surprise that Jenelle is sharing shots of her family on outings and relaxing on The Land, but fans were surprised to see this picture of Jace holding a gun.

Being a North Carolinian, Jenelle Evans is used to spending time outdoors. She and her new husband David are dedicated to making a life for themselves on their massive property, aka “The Land.” Given their background, it’s no surprise that they would have some experience with camping and hunting. But when Jenelle posted this picture of Jace holding a gun, some fans were shocked.

Jenelle and her family recently took a camping trip, which made for some adorable shots of the kids. She captioned this one, “Thank you so much babe for being there for Jace. When all the dads were helping out their kids, @easondavid88 stepped right in. Wish I knew what I was doing when it comes to BB guns. This weekend was a blast! #BoyScouts #CampMcNeil#FamilyFunCamp.”
“David holding a gun,” wrote user sara_van_eynde. “This is going to end well.” User momto3flowers wrote, “I know in other states and parts of this country love guns and hunting but you really shouldn’t introduce them to little boys. Sorry I love you but just saying.” User kathe_kathe wrote, “I definitely don’t like kids with guns…”
But guns weren’t the only things that people criticized about this picture. “It’s kind of vomit inducing that she pats him on the back for every tiny thing he does,” wrote Reddit user AndyJCohen. “Like just a picture with a caption of what they were doing wouldn’t bother me as much. But this overly dramatic ‘thanks for not being a piece of s**t’ caption is annoying to me.” User mayor_of_the_LAND wrote, “Is it weird that I feel like David is training Jace to protect the Land?”
Some even thought that Jenelle and David may have “staged” this picture. User Cantadulttoday wrote, “This looks like ‘the land’…. Is the whole Boy Scouts thing real, or is Jenelle just bullsh**ting about her ‘boys doing stuff’ on the land… Trying to make it sound like they are good parents? Someone else pointed out that their clothes don’t change all weekend (per the posts).” Instagram user jessicawachman agreed, writing, “This picture looks staged to show him as a good stepdaddy, I feel like I could see Stockholm syndrome in here with her!”
But not everyone had criticism for Jenelle. Some praised her, like user sassymoma1986, who wrote, “So awesome seeing this. So glad you have finally got a real man in your life and your childrens lives. Keep make the positive changes in your life.” User molls1725 chimed in, “This is beautiful! You have such a great family and came such a long way. You deserve nothing but happiness.”
